What happens if you achieve a dream and then decide it’s not for you?

This might seem like a terrible thing, but it really isn’t. Thinking this way demotivates you for the next goal, the next dream and the next journey. And it ignores and devalues the work you did along the way and all the lessons you learned.

So try to think about it this way.

At the very least, you achieved that thing you always wanted. You proved that you have the drive and the talent to make it. You reached for the thing that most people only dream about and had it in your grasp.

You dedicated yourself to something. You learned how to set up habits that worked. You connected with people who loved your work and supported you.

You learned to value yourself enough to believe that you could achieve your dream. You motivated yourself on the days when you were tired and wanted to do anything but more work toward something that seemed so far away.

And you learned what you don’t want. So the next time you set a dream for yourself, your aim will be better and truer.

There’s absolutely nothing to regret in that list, so don’t waste your time. Just keep moving, and eventually, you will find success.

So what lessons have you learned from dreams that didn’t work for you?
