Time versus LifetimesteemCreated with Sketch.

All everybody really has and all everybody can really make use of is … time. Knowing that time is the most scarce resource we have … how do we want to spend our lifetime … the time until we die?

Let’s think about it … we don’t know why we are here, we don’t know what will happen after we die. So the obvious goal is spending our lifetime with stuff we like and appreciate. My assumption is that only very few people on this plant can really do fulltime what they like. I’m no exception of that. I have to go to work daily to feed my family. I freely chose to do so, but in reality I have no other option when I compare risk versus chance. I don’t have any property which I could lend to other people and make a living of that. I have not been creative enough to develop a business. Taking into account of caring for three children and my wife, the risk of starting a business for me so far seemed way to high.

Recently I stumbled across this picture of being … employed // self-employed // a business-owner // an investor.

Our current economic and social system is totally based on added-value and profit and thus creating more value. We are spending the majority of our time to create more value. That is absurd by itself.
Steem in that regard is the first real network where value is added to the network by blogging and therefore is rewarded by the network participants. Steem is a completely different approach to economics and value creation based on a decentralized autonomous organization backed by a native multi value token.
Coming back to time versus lifetime, spending time on Steem for me is the start of something special. It is the first step out of the current centralized system of profit and greed. So hopefully in the future there is a way to earn a living from contributing to a decentral network by adding value to the network, receiving tokens and trading those for every day goods and services.

So do I really want to live a lifetime working employed for someone else - if you really break it down to the base working as an employee for a corporation you are nothing more than a tool to get something done, and therefore a cost factor.

Working self-employed would be a much better way of making a living, because you are doing something for yourself. Nevertheless this is anyway a centralized approach.

Working as a business owner results in the same above mentioned scheme of profit and greed. Once again working within a decentralized network seems much more feasible to me.

Working as an investor results in the same above mentioned scheme of profit and greed. Once again working within a decentralized network AND HAVING STAKE in that network seems much more feasible to me.

Of course as humans tend to be lazy, inflexible and sluggish things will not change overnight. Nevertheless decentralization has so many advantages over the present system.

Token economy will be a real alternative to the current profit economy. Mass adoption and change of mindset will happen. I see the potential of resolving inequality worldwide through decentralization, blockchain technology and token economy. With that using our lifetime as human beings for the good of humanity, the animal kingdom and our planet will evolve to make sense.
