Vin Armani: A Brief Review of His Book "Self-Ownership"
I first heard of Vin Armani on Jeff Berwick's popular 'Anarchast' on Youtube, and was immidetly struck by his badassery.
A professional Gigolo in Las Vegas, a Voluntaryist, an Agorist who had run a pirate radio station that broadcasted to L.A. county without getting shut down by the FCC, a self labelled Crypo-Savage, show host of the Vin Armani show, and now an author. This guy's done a lot!
And did I mention he's kind of a badass?
Recently he came onto James Corbett's show to talk about his recent book, Self-Ownership: the foundation of property and morality.
The premise of the book is as follows: property is heavily addressed in the libertarian philosophy. However what isn't fully addressed, is OWNERSHIP. Yes, ownership is touched on, but not to a satisfactory amount.
Self Ownership is Vin's attempt to begin filling that void.
I think this is an excellent contribution to libertarian thought in general because Vin lays out what he believes to be the 3 qualifications for the ownership of property, particularly in one's own body:
- Knowledge of existence
- The ability of interaction
- Capable of being defended
The book is a fascinating collection of essays that I highly recommend.
