PATRON SAINT OF THE DAY: For Protection Against Frostbite
The 9th of January is the feast of Saint Basilissa.
Living in the 300's in either Syria or Egypt, Basilissa and her husband vowed to never consummate their marriage and instead lived as virgins devoted to God. She founded a convent and he founded a monastery. They were both martyred during the Roman persecutions.
