He aquí un tema que ha dado mucho de qué hablar al hombre desde que empezó a indagar acerca de su existencia y su papel en el cosmos. En el primer instante que el hombre tuvo una pregunta sobre cualquier cosa que iba más allá de su comprensión inició una empresa con el fin de indagar a la cosa en cuestión: ¿qué es eso que desconozco?, ¿de dónde viene?, ¿por qué es así?..., estas interrogantes acompañaron al hombre por siglos, por milenios, y lo seguirán haciendo.

     El fuego, el primer gran descubrimiento, quizá uno de los primeros dioses. Fuego destructor, y fuego creador; fuego divino, heraldo implacable que vence a la oscuridad. Luego fueron (o antes), el Sol, la Luna, la Tierra, el Mar… de este modo iban sumándose deidades progresivamente, buscando darle coherencia o forma a nuestro mundo. Con el pasar del tiempo estos dioses iban ‘sofisticándose’, ahora ocupan cuerpos antropomórficos; híbridos de hombre regentes del momento, mitad hombre mitad bestia. Cada pueblo les llamó a estas divinidades como mejor les pareció: Zeus, Amón, Odin, Yahveh, Amaterasu Ō-Mikami, Vishnú… Todos ellos al fin y al cabo eran (y son) representaciones de las mismas cosas: de fenómenos naturales. Unos cuantos de miles de años más tarde llegó al mundo el hombre que estremeció los cimientos de occidente: Jesús de Nazaret. Aquello inexplicable pasa a formar parte de una creación divina y este nuevo dios-hombre predicaba acerca del amor e igualdad, estableciendo un nuevo orden social a través de la Palabra. Esto sería el día a día del medioevo hasta la llegada de un acontecimiento social que venía fraguándose desde los últimos siglos: el Renacimiento, un nuevo hombre para un nuevo horizonte.

     La Nueva Ciencias va a dar una explicación y forma a aquello turbio y oracular de otrora. Todo lo que fuera capaz de comprobarse y repetirse de manera exacta se convirtió en verdad, así Dios y otros dioses encuentran mermada poco a poco su influencia, siendo desplazados por la racionalidad. La ciencia se convirtió en el ‘nuevo oráculo’, las convenciones sociales que regían al hombre ya no dependían de una Razón divina, sino por la razón. La mera convención social se volvió suficiente para la convivencia del hombre, sin este necesitar más de un dios que los estuviera observando para castigarlo o premiarlo. La idea de Dios pasó a ser un ente infinitamente bueno y sabio como magnificación y estrapolación de nuestros propios atributos humanos; Dios no es más que una idea, algo incognoscible e inalcanzable para nosotros, a diferencia de la ciencia.

     Lo que vagamente le dió forma a nuestra existencia, nuestro mundo y nuestra sociedad, fue siendo relegado a un plano secundario por otra creación del hombre: las ciencias. Así como enunció Nietzsche:

     Dios ha muerto. Dios sigue muerto. Y nosotros lo hemos matado. ¿Cómo podríamos reconfortarnos, los asesinos de todos los asesinos? El más santo y el más poderoso que el mundo ha poseído se ha desangrado bajo nuestros cuchillos.

Estamos desechando ideas antiguas sin vigencia, desechamos a Dios.

     Las razones divinas ya no son menesterosas para mantener un orden social o explicar un suceso en particular, la ciencia y razón se encargan de ello. Hemos tomado un nuevo derrotero en la evolución hacia el mañana. No somos más hombre primitivos, sino hombres ilustrados en los que impera la razón.

     Here is a topic that has given the man much to talk about since he began to inquire about his existence and his role in the cosmos. In the first moment that the man had a question about anything that went beyond his comprehension, he started a company with the purpose of investigating the thing in question: What is it that I do not know? Where does it come from? Why is it like that?... These questions accompanied man for centuries, for millennia, and they will continue to do so.

     Fire, the first great discovery, one of the first gods. Destructive fire, and creative fire; divine fire, a ruthless herald that overcomes the darkness. Then they were (or before) the Sun, the Moon, the Earth, the Sea... In this way, deities were gradually added, seeking to give coherence or form to our world. With the passing of time these gods were 'sophisticated', now occupy anthropomorphic bodies; man hybrids regents of the moment, half man half beast. Each people called these divinities as they thought best: Zeus, Amon, Odin, Yahweh, Amaterasu Ō-Mikami, Vishnu... All them, after all, were (and are) representations of the same things: of natural phenomena. A few thousand years later the man who shook the foundations of the West came to the world: Jesus of Nazareth. That inexplicable thing becomes part of divine creation and this new god-man preached about love and equality, establishing a new social order through the Word. This would be the day to day of the Middle Ages until the arrival of a social event that had been brewing since the last centuries: the Renaissance, a new man for a new horizon.

     The New Sciences will give an explanation and form to that turbulent and oracular thing of yesterday. Everything that was able to be verified and repeated in an exact manner became true, so God and other gods find their influence diminished little by little, being displaced by rationality. Science became the 'new oracle', the social conventions that governed man no longer depended on a divine Reason, but for reason. The mere social convention became enough for the coexistence of man, without this needing more than one god who was observing them punish or reward him. The idea of God became an infinitely good and wise entity as magnification and extrapolation of our own human attributes; God is only an idea, something unknowable and unattainable for us, unlike science.

     What vaguely shaped our existence, our world and our society were being relegated to a secondary level by another creation of man: the sciences. As Nietzsche enunciated:

     God is dead. God is still dead. And we have killed him. How can we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? The holiest and the most powerful that the world has possessed has been bled under our knives.

We are discarding old ideas without validity, we reject God.

     The divine reasons are no longer needed to maintain social order or explain a particular event, science and reason are responsible for it. We have taken a new path in the evolution towards tomorrow. We are no more primitive men, but enlightened men in whom reason reigns.
