¡Vaya afirmación!, nos la repetimos una y otra vez sin cesar, sin llegar a comprender la barbaridad que se está diciendo. Necios quienes no se quieren dar cuenta: el hombre solo obra por capricho, es el ser más egoísta de todos. No mide las consecuencias de sus actos, él hiere a otros, ya que solo vela por sus intereses.

     Claro ejemplo de esto es la inherente necesidad de demostrar superioridad alguna, imponer su poderío. Las mascotas son pobres seres que atamos a nuestra caprichosa existencia, son la viva imagen del síndrome de Estocolmo: viven de nuestra voluntad, no pueden comer si no les damos comida, no pueden beber agua si no se las damos, les ordenamos qué hacer y les condicionamos el cómo vivir. El hombre obra de este modo, sometiendo al otro ser a su control total.

     Vale acotar que no hay acción que nazca del hombre que no sea impulsada por su egoísmo y por su instinto de supervivencia. Por lo tanto, si todo acto del hombre nace por el egoísmo, este es uno de los motores impulsores del hombre. Inclusive aquellas cosas que son —a simple vista— actos verdaderamente altruistas no nacen más que del deseo de obtener algo para nosotros mismos. Sin embargo, esto no es del todo malo, a través del egoísmo y de la autosuperación hace el hombre de su entorno un mejor lugar para él —y en la mayoría de los casos—, un mejor lugar para el otro…

     Por esto y más, podemos argumentar que mediante el egoísmo se hace del mundo un mejor lugar para vivir. Nos conviene que nuestro alrededor funcione del mejor modo posible para que podamos disfrutar de él cuanto queramos. El hombre es un ser egoísta por naturaleza y esto no quiere decir, necesariamente, que sea malo —en cuanto a si es bueno o no, es harina de otro costal—. El hombre siempre va a tender a obrar no-bien, a ser un bárbaro, su estado de naturaleza no es la civilidad y precisamente por esto es que se le puede enseñar y precisar el ser bueno. Únicamente por medio del uso de nuestras facultades críticas es que podremos sobrellevar a este estado caótico de naturaleza. Debemos ser sometidos a un contrato social que nos permita vivir con el otro sin llegar a matarlo.

     Como todo lo natural del mundo, no se llega a ser ni bueno ni malo en dicho estado: solamente es. La percepción que se tenga de ello dependerá meramente de los criterios a priori que nos sean impuestos. Al hombre debe enseñársele a cómo actuar en comunidad, a convivir con el otro.

     What a statement! we repeat it again and again without ceasing, without understanding the barbarity that is being said. Fools who do not want to realize: Man only works on a caprice, is the most selfish creature of all. It does not measure the consequences of its actions, it hurts others since it only watches over its interests.

     A clear example of this is the inherent need to prove some superiority, to impose its power. Pets are poor beings that we attach to our capricious existence, they are the living image of the Stockholm syndrome: They live by our will, they can not eat if we do not give them food, they can not drink water if we do not give them, we order them what to do and we condition them how to live. The man works in this way, dominating the other being to his total control.

     It is worth noting that there is no action born of man that is not driven by his selfishness and his instinct for survival. Thus, if every act of man is born of selfishness, this is one of the driving forces of man. Even those things that are —on the face of it— truly altruistic acts are born only from the desire to get something for ourselves. However, this is not all bad, through selfishness and self-improvement makes the man of his environment a better place for him —and in most cases— a better place for the other...

     For this and more, we can argue that through selfishness the world is made a better place to live. It suits us that our surroundings work in the best possible way so that we can enjoy it as much as we want. Man is a selfish being by nature and this does not necessarily mean that it is bad — about whether it is good or not, it is another matter—. Man is always going to tend to act not-good, to be a barbarian, his state of nature is not civility and precisely because of this is that he can be taught and precise to be good. Only through the use of our critical faculties are we able to cope with this chaotic state of nature. We must be subordinated to a social contract that allows us to live with the other without killing him.

     Like everything natural in the world, it does not become good or bad in that state: only 'is'. The perception of it will depend merely on the a priori criteria that are imposed on us. The man must be taught how to act in community, to coexist with the other.
