Carnegie-Mellon-University.jpgTechnology-Enhanced Learning (TEL) Workshop
May 21-23, 2017
Made possible by generous funding from the A.W. Mellon Foundation.

THE OPPORTUNITY
Carnegie Mellon University is offering up to a dozen A.W. Mellon Fellowships in Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL). Fellows will receive free tuition and up to $1,000 to cover travel and lodging expenses for a unique summer workshop. Participants can expect to learn about cutting edge learning technologies, how they are changing humanities education, and how these technologies can be used to achieve better learning outcomes.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Higher education is changing, and technologies are changing the way people teach and learn. To teach effectively, faculty and graduate students need to understand how technologies can enhance (and sometimes detract from) student learning. This intensive workshop is designed to prepare participants to make effective design decisions around educational technology – from selecting appropriate tools to incorporating them effectively in a given teaching/learning context. The course is specialized for educators in the humanities. Participants will examine and discuss some innovative applications of learning technologies by CMU humanities faculty.

WHEN & WHERE
The workshop will take place May 21-23, 9am to 3pm, on CMU’s campus in Pittsburgh, PA.

ELIGIBILITY
PhD students in the Humanities will receive preference, but junior faculty in the Humanities (within 5 years of receiving their PhD), and Masters-level students are also encouraged to apply.
