F#ck everything and become happy! 10 steps on how to enjoy life more and become happy.

I have been experiencing a lot of different things in my life. I have had two of my best friends die, family go away, I have been in a motorcycle accident where i almost died, drug abuse, being an outcast, betrayal and depressions. I have been feeling so lost and alone it got to a point where I actually started to feel sorry for my self…. What a shame!
And every time I got my self off the ground and started to pick me together piece by piece I got slammed right back in to the earth’s surface and was made an example off.

I was always told by teachers, family and friends that life is hard, so is started to believe it. I walked around confused and alone thinking that life was so damn hard? As if I would know a damn thing about what a hard life is!

Suddenly one day I realized something groundbreaking. There is no need to feel sorry for myself, that will only drive me further down in to self pity and shame. I also realized that my life is rather easy. I have a family, job, my 4(5) limbs intact, I have cold fresh water, food, some money and roof over my head. That is more than 96% of the world population has. So what else have I to whine about other than “my life is hard”.

So I put together a list of 10 steps I got from dragging my sorry self along the mud to being content and happy with myself.


#1 Realize that suffering is necessary!

In order to understand that suffering is necessary we have to understand that there cannot be happiness without suffering. We understand and appreciate happiness more when we know we have suffered before.

“Is suffering really necessary? Yes and no. If you had not suffered as you have, there would be no depth to you, no humility, no compassion”

#2 Live in the now!

This on is a real clichè, but it is also very true. If we only dwell in the past or try to plan the road ahead all the time we forget to enjoy life as it is right now. This is the moment we live, we don’t know what tomorrow brings. Try to focus on what’s around you, sounds, smell etc, look around and see what is happening in this momemt.

#3 Take responsibility!

We have to take responsibility in our lives. Realizing that what happens to us or with us is our responsibility. we are in charge, we cannot rely on others to fix our problems.

#4 Follow your dream!

I am not talking about mediocrity. I’m walking about dreams that you have had for a very long time, maybe years, decades. Open yourself up for the possibility that it can become true one day, take baby-steps towards your dreams and watch the world unfolds.
If you believe it is impossible then you have given up before have tried.

#5 Be positive!

We are a product of our thoughts, what we think, we become. Our thoughts are so powerful it can heal us and change our being. If you think negative thoughts all day you cannot help, but getting more negativity. It’s a spiral, and you can choose if you want it to be a positive one or negative. meditate and clean the air in your mind.

#6 Spread love around you!

Everyone has something they struggle with, we cannot wait until the perfect moment to spread love and let it unfold. Say some kinds words to a stranger, friend, coworker even yourself. Do acts of love for people, and it will be returned. Make people grow by encouraging them to rise above and live life!

#7 Take a break and treat yourself!

Life can be really hard sometimes, stressful and harsh. It’s really important to treat yourself as you would with someone else who has been going trough a rough time. Take a vacation, hike or a long bath, meditate and stay centered. Treat yourself with something good from time to time.

#8 Fake it till you make it!

It is really hard to stay positive and love everyone around you all the time. Sometimes it wouldn’t even feel natural, but forcing yourself to do so creates a pattern that you will benefit from. It may sound stupid, but force yourself to smile, say kind words and to the above, even if you don’t feel like it. It will implement itself into your life.

#9 Be grateful!

Be grateful for everything and everyone you have in your life. If you have clean water, food, roof over you head and some money as I mentioned earlier you have more than 96% of the rest of the world. Be grateful for your journey and where it has lead you, even if you are in a dark place now. Happiness is about what loving what you have and being grateful for it!

#10 And don't forget to enjoy the ride!

Treat life like a game, the winner dies, the loser dies, it is how you play the game that defines you! Have fun and live life to the fullest, take some chances and spread joy and love to the people around you. Don’t take yourself to serious and be able to let yourself go a little.
