The GOLDEN HOUR | Understanding sunset till dusk!
Sunset for me is a daily phenomenon that denotes two positive outlook, one is the end of the day for a chance to rest and assess how the whole day has been and second is that, it gives me high hopes for another day that will unfold.

Sunset in itself is remarkably beautiful! Many of us love sunrise but sunset will always be special for me! I have such fascination to sunsets and everyday I’m just taking chances to have a glimpse of it.
Technically speaking, sunset or also called as sundown is the daily disappearance of the sun from the horizon due to Earth’s rotation. Horizon on the other hand is also known as the skyline, which is the apparent line separating the earth from the sky.

Let’s appreciate and understand further what is sunset and how it happens. There are actually 3 phases in the TWILIGHT period that is happening between sunset and dusk.
Relax it will be light and after reading this, I’ll make sure it will add up to your learnings 😉
Phase 1️⃣: Civil Twilight - from the Sun’s disappearance below the horizon till it reaches 6 degrees below the horizon
Phase 2️⃣: Nautical Twilight - it’s just a matter of distance below the horizon when the Sun is between 6-12 degrees below.
Phase 3️⃣: Astronomical Twilight - the period when the Sun is 12-18 degrees below the horizon just before “dusk” or the darkest moment of twilight before the night officially falls

In essence the farther the Sun is below the horizon, the dimmer the Twilight will be. Twilight is the illumination of the Earth’s lower atmosphere, referred to as sweet light by photographers and blue hour by painters. We also have two twilights below the horizon, one is between sunset and dusk and the second is between dawn and sunrise which I’ll be sharing on my next blog to complete the “DUSK till DAWN” phenomenon of the Sun. Mistakenly being considered or identified by others as the aurora, but twilight is totally different from that of the aurora.
