Koreans Love the Prostitutes of the Philippines.
Another harsh title, that's kinda what I do. I hope you are used to it by now. Anything that doesn't incite emotion isn't worth posting in my opinion.
This is afterall a platform to post information unadulterated by political agendas and mass-media, we should embrace that and speak the truth based on hundreds to thousands of hours of research and experience. Let the world know the truth about everything possible, and learn from others that do the same.
My last post touched on prostitution in the Philippines briefly. I did HOURS of research on it however while writing the post, and that is not my first time to research the topic, my total research on the topic totaling well over thousands of hours of research. Today I decided to write about a specific angle of prostitution in the Philippines and effecting Pilipinos. If you were curious, yes every girl in the picture featured above works at a KTV bar and is (or was) likely a prostitute, and that is only 1 of hundreds of similar bars in the area.
How young is too young? How old is too old?
As prostitution is already illegal in the country, it is not far-fetched to state that there are many minors that work in the prostitution industry in the Philippines. Humorously, many KTV and "Girly" bars actually do require identification, age documents, etc. before being hired.
On the flip side, these very same companies typically employ or can refer a person who can produce fake documents for would-be applicants. A 14 year old having an ID saying she was 19? No problem. Using a sister or cousin's name? Common place. Age is only discriminated against if they attract attention or have not yet developed.
On the flip side, there are many girls who have worked in prostitution so long that they do not know anything else. There are women well over 40 still passing themselves off as mid 20's. To the trained eye this is obvious, but many customers of such bars are already (or quickly become in the bars) intoxicated.
Once a girl has come to an age where she no longer is able to easily get customers it is not uncommon for these women to become Mamasangs within the same or competing bars. These positions are quite literally "prostitute sellers" or female pimps.
Prostitution in the Philippines is illegal, however the tolerance of the culture is quite high.
In fact, according to conservative numbers, the Philippines has more prostitutes than any other country in South East Asia IN COUNTRY so as to say, not including the 10s of thousands that work as prostitutes abroad.
How do so many girls become prostitutes?
Fathers, Mothers, schoolmates, siblings, cousins: all sell and or encourage girls to enter this industry, but often without revealing what the industry actually is.
Of course there are women that are told they can have sex for money, surprisingly however, this is a scarce minority compared to those that got into it by other means unaware of the box pandora was about to open upon their lives.
Many girls are told they are fantastic dancers, or have very good voices and should apply to work as a singer or dancer locally or abroad. Some are told that they are very attractive and this is easy money as they only have to greet customers and pour drinks or dance/sing. The salaries for these types of positions are much higher than legitimate jobs typically and require less 'brain power' as the sole purpose of success is the physical attributes of the woman and how she can please the customer. In short, MANY girls that eventually become prostitutes had no such notion or understanding that is what they would become until it had become too late. Blame this on low-IQ, naivety, or just typical social conditioning...
More on all of this in a future post.
Korea's Influence in Malate
For my local brothers and sisters, If you are in Metro Manila I'm sure you have heard of the goings on in Malate.
Malate is a district of the city of Manila, the capital of the Philippines. Anybody has been to Malate at night has seen the buzzing nightlife and plethora of japanese and korean restaurants and KTV bars. There are people everywhere in the streets, even on a Monday evening when many similar "party districts" are vacant. Why is this you may ask? It's pretty simple: Prostitution.
Here is a map of a website that writes reviews on KTV bars throughout the Philippines, note that MANY bars that exist are not listed on this map as they seem to spring up so frequently the blog can't keep up. Every Pink circle with a girl with a ponytail is a KTV bar or "Girly" bar, essentially locations where you can buy sex. These are all in Malate.
One thing many people "especially westerners" will notice upon entering the Malate area at night is the high saturation of other foreign asians such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean. This is then doubled-down as you notice how many Korean and Japanese restaurants are spread amongst the bars.
Don't get me wrong, I have eaten at some of these places and there are a few hidden gems with excellent food for the price. The downfall is that you will likely be eating in the same room as several prostitutes and their Johns. Not a place to bring your children at night.
Many of these restaurants are owned by the same (or relatives of the) people that own the KTV bars. Many of these are Korean, some Japanese, some Filipino, but a great majority are Korean.
Inside of these bars and surrounding restaurants and clubs you will find a plethora of koreans. This is not the case in many places throughout the Philippines, but in Malate, they have a very high density. You can see Korean men with bakla (gay men, sometimes but not often post-operation dressed as women and of the homosexual persuasion) and women. They don't seem to discriminate much and their taste for quality is fairly low (prostitutes in the Malate area are notoriously less beautiful and cheaper than those in other areas).
There are entire barangays where over 30% of the children are fathered by Koreans, their mothers having acted as prostitutes and getting pregnant by their customers. That is an EXTREMELY high figure considering the conservative numbers given above.
So why do Korean's inparticularly enjoy prostitution in the Philippines?
Well, surprisingly enough, the cultures on the subject line up fairly closely. I know, who would have thought right?
South Korea has a higher % of prostitutes in it's country than the Philippines. No i'm not joking. Now a majority of these prostitutes are from the Philippines (formerly Russia, but the Russian government shut that down and thus the huge influx of prostitutes from the Philippines, Juicy Girls). Now keep in mind also that Korea has a better system for tracking and higher desire to reveal prostitution than the Philippines, so in reality, the Philippines prostitution is likely much higher than Korea particularly when including filipino prostitutes in Korea and other countries.
In fact, over 23% of males and nearly 3% of females in Korea admit to having their first sexual experience with a prostitute. That's a pretty high percent overall for a first sexual experience!
According to the Institute of Criminology and the Women's Development Institute in Korea: 20% of Korean males in their 20's pay for sex at least four times a month, 20% of Korean seniors pay for sex on a regular basis, and 1 of every 6 Korean females are involved in the sex industry. Considering the HIGH prevalence of prostitutes from abroad, these numbers are mind numbingly shocking!
So why filipino prostitutes? They are cheaper! Many Koreans come to The Philippines for the purpose of sex tourism. They have friends, family, or have read about it online. They congregate in areas such as Malate where there are many more like-minded individuals. Considering Korea is a culture that clearly accepts prostitution as much as it does, the Philippines is an obvious destination.
Pilipino Prostitutes in Korea
Ever since Russia prostitutes entering Korea was exploded as a social issue in 2003, The Philippines has been the go-to country for foreign prostitutes, a commodity popular in Korea.
Formerly Russians, and now Filipinas, are tricked into working in Korea as prostitutes 99 times out of 100. They are recruited as Singers or Dancers often times and receive visas for "Art and Performance". Upon arriving in korea, they must surrender their passports and are forced into prostitution.
Depending on the company that employs them, this is often a slow process, starting with some actual singing or dancing, and slowly proceeding into the following stages:
- You will get paid more if you are able to get customers to buy drinks. It's easy to do just entertain them and sit next to them, get them to buy you drinks and buy more for themselves. Your job is to keep them inside the bar until their wallets are empty.
- You will keep customers here longer and get some repeat and regular customers if you really pay attention to what they say and maybe touch their thigh or graze their neck occasionally.
- Your customers will come back more often if you stimulate them. You don't need to do anything outrageous, just get them excited, they are more likely to buy you more drinks and stay longer and come back more often. They might also give you a bigger tip for your attention.
- If you put your hand (or mouth) in their pants, for sure they will give you a MUCH bigger tip. It's not that far a leap from what you've been doing already, maybe try it on a handsome customer and if you like it and get a good tip try it more.
- If you can convince a customer to take you out and "bar fine" you, then you'll make WAY more money. You don't have to have to do anything with them, maybe just go to dinner together.
- When you get bar-fined, just have some quick sex with the customer. You will get a lot more money, and they will also give you a big tip afterwards. You can make more money in one night than you would otherwise in a week if it's ok for you.
- Try to convince as many customers as you can to bar-fine you as fast as you can, you can speed through it and maybe even get bar-fined by 5-10+ guys all in one night. You'll be making more money in night than you would in over 2 months if you don't. All the other girls are doing it, you might as well too, you're pretty, use your looks to benefit you.
These types of pressure and encouraging come from the establishment owner, the other girls working there, and the pimps that look over them. These people and establishments are experts in manipulation for this particular purpose and have done the same to hundreds to thousands of girls in the past. They know exactly how to coax girls to do what they want, pressure them with limited wages and a confiscated passport, get the other girls to help convince them, and build themselves the ultimate slut from the innocent province girl that'd never seen a penis which arrived there just a month or so earlier.
At a particular point the girls are given a quota of 200-500 drinks per month, and if they fail to meet their quota, must pay their own 'bar-fine' or be demoted to much more demeaning acts.
Majority of these girls are forced into the work they entertain, but in such a clever way they don't even realize when they cross the line from indentured servant, to full-blown sex worker.
Well, that's all for today folks. Knowledge is power, the more you know.
Next time you visit an area like Malate, or hear of a friend/relative/sibling's excited rantings that they are going to sing abroad, get involved. Pay a bit more attention, lest that sweet little girl becomes someone you wouldn't recognize.
