Planning a large Steemit convention in Cebu!!! :D
Hello Steemians :)
I have been thinking for awhile now, to plan a big Steemit meetup in Cebu. This will be open to everyone who wants to attend, and if you have friends that aren't on Steemit, you can bring them along as well.
The main reason I would like to plan this because there is so much misinformation as well as a general lack of knowledge about Steemit.
Some things I would like to cover; (But not limited to),
- What is Steemit
- How does Steemit actually work
- Steem vs. SBD
- Curation/Upvoting
- The importance of creating a strong Filipino community on Steemit
- Witnesses and their role in securing the platform
- How to be successful @ Steemit
Now, I will not be speaking about all these things alone... Ideally, I would like to have one person speaking about each topic. Someone with experience that has more than a general knowledge/basic understanding.
Since this event will be expensive, (Hotel convention room, snacks & drinks) and I will not accept ANY donations... This event will not be officially sponsored by anyone. Everybody will be free to blog about this event.(A special thanks to @rcarter (Who isn't active on Steemit for giving the future funds to pay for this event).
What I am looking for, are guest speakers in the Philippines, that are VERY successful/knowledgeable about Steemit, and I will pay for their flights and hotel stay to come speak at this event for all of us. I am in the process now of creating a Facebook invitation, where everyone that is interested can RSVP.
As for the timeframe, I am not 100% sure yet... As I do not know who will be able to attend as guest speakers, and their personal schedules. Ideally, I would like to hold this event in early to late November... Definitely before Christmas.

Thanks for the shout-out. I have lived here in the Philippines for over 6 years now, and I have never met a Filipino that has been anything less than generous, and genuine.
Therefore, I would like to give back in a small way. I know that with proper support, and guidance- The Filipino community can be the strongest and biggest on Steemit.
A few tips for all newcomers;
1.) Reinvest in yourself.
2.) Steemit owes you nothing
3.) You will get out of it, what you give in.
4.) Don't publish blogs and comments that are less than 100% of your true potential. Never feel that you have to publish a blog every day... Because doing this, will only sacrifice quality.
5.) Resteem your favorite community posts. Especially when you don't have any blogs to write. It will give you leeway to draft an excellent blog in the coming days, that the people you resteemed in the past, can help you with.
6.) Don't be cheap with upvotes. If you see something you like, give it a figurative "Thumbs-up". It keeps the creators motivated to continue blogging, and producing quality content. By not getting upvotes on garbage posts, they will learn not to rush.
7.) Most important to me, leave genuine comments. If you see a blog, or a comment that you appreciate... Take the time to leave them a nice comment thanking them for their effort. Go to their page, learn their name, find out where they are from, leave them a comment asking them a question that they have to reply to. This will surely increase both of your morale, and the receivers will not forget this gesture. That, is the ticket to long-term success on Steemit. (Would you rather have 1,000 followers that aren't active on your blogs? Or 100, that you took the time to become friends with?)
Hopefully, I will get a chance to meet everyone in Cebu at this event. If there is a required slot to speak, I would volunteer my time.

btw, I just did 100pounds deadlift yesterday and I haven't done that for a very long time, meaning since I started my addiction on steemit hahaha... Am glad you are still in track ^_- gezz you look good! I have to go back to the gym again tomorrow. Right now my back hurts! lol no pain no gain! haha

Hihi, How u? yeah.. but no, i don't think u want me singing or trying to dance anywhere near other ppl. :P i'm kidding, but not really. I actually used to go clubbing pretty often, but that was before. I also luv the videoke, but don't have the kind of voice others want to listen to. :P I think maybe there are possibly some good pinoy singers amoung us steemians.
100 lbs. huh? thats good. and considering that it's about your bodyweight. (i'm guessing, but im pretty sure) I have a hard time lifting the 100 lb weight plate to put it on the leg press.. that's not even a deadlift. I actually never ever did a deadlift, but i know that is one of the best olympic lifts. good on u!
what?! u said carbs! ooh! are they in chip form? i usually always have some simple (translation.. junk food) carbs within 1 hour after a workout. Ever try some corn flakes with vanilla protein powder and milk? after a workout. u can feel ur body soaking up the calories it wants from that. :P

lol 100 lbs only. I used to be able to lift 160 bls lol I just got skinny lately lol but I will get back my beautiful muscles soon hahaha! Actually before my trip to thailand, I have to look stunning! because it's a red carpet lol I'll share you some photos of the event. It's crazy, I am actualy very nervous to join this event. *crossed fingers! ^_-

Olympic lifters are AMAZING!!! it's a lot of work, you know self motivation and the will power. I have a lot of respect to those people.

No, I haven't tried cereal with my soy protein powder but I had it with imported milk because I am lactose intolerant. I bought 3 boxes of "Post great grains banana-nut crunch whole grain cereal" lol yes that's what it says on the box lol
I got a total of 6 boxes because it was on sale " buy one and get one free" lol good luck to sugar-rush! ahaha

seems like our comments are actually longer that most posts.. :D it's fast and easy to write in a comment usually, since it's more what u feel and u don't have to think about just the right grammar, spelling, etc.

u know, i was at the gym yesterday and there was a olympic bar sitting on the floor.. a dedicated deadlift bar resting on two rubber squares. so, in your honor, i tried to deadlift (with terrible form, i'm sure). The weight wasn't very hard at all, but my balance really sucks so I could feel ready to fall over trying to hold that bar. i dont think i'll be trying that again anytime soon.
oh? u wanna hear me sing? well, how bout dancing first.. here's me in my younger days..
