First Steemit Philippines Meet Up Caravan - Bulacan

I have been in the Steemit platform for a long time. Aside from my friend @oppaniayu who I invited to Steemit, I haven't met other people from the community. Luckily, there was one meet up held near us. It was just about one and a half hour drive from Angat, our hometown. So we decided to attend and meet with our fellow Filipino Steemians.

We are fortunate to be part of the first SteemPH Meet Up Caravan held last February 17, 2018. Firstly, I want to thank the couple @steemitph and @dandalion who organized and hosted the event for us. This would not be possible if there are no people who pioneer and set events.

The event was held at a restaurant named "Bahay na Tisa" which is located in San Gabriel, Malolos, Bulacan. As you can see in the photo, the place has a brick inspired design which makes me want to take many pictures. The carbonara and sandwich that was served by the restaurant tasted great (Free snack c/o the organizers 😁).

As the first part of the discussion, @steemph was introduced. It was explained that it was formed initially to perform outreach programs. The @steemph core includes @bearone, @immarojas, @deveerei, @luvabi, @dreamily and @grazz. They showed the different programs that was done by the community like relief operations for typhoon victims and assistance for the war-torn Marawi in Mindanao. The @steemph community is growing so there were sub-communities that emerged like @steemph.manila, @steemph.cebu, @steemph.iligan and @steemph.davao that help in managing and promoting the platform.

@steemnest which is also a project of @steemph was also mentioned. It aims to provide helpful information about Steemit to guide the newcomers. Another one of their initiative is @artguildph. It intends to support the artists in the Steemit platform. (I recently joined a contest hosted by @artguildph.) A new @steemph project, @steemph.curator, was also mentioned.

Some of the basics in Steemit like formatting, aligning and content creation was discussed. They also talked about witnesses for the Steem blockchain and how to vote for them. They mentioned the PH witnesses that are supported and support @steemph namely: @surpassinggoogle / @steemgigs, @cloh76.witness, @precise and @ausbitbank

They also spoke about @utopian-io and @sndbox. @utopian-io serves as a portal for contributions to open source projects. I have already visited their site where you can check for different tasks like translation, design or analysis. They mentioned the requirements that @sndbox consider to tell what are good posts. @steemitph also talked about the benefits of being part of @sndbox.

At the last part, @steemitph and @dandalion talked about powering up. They spoke of how it will help us and the community since the Philippines doesn't have a large voting power. I have already done a power up before and I might consider doing it again depending on the circumstance. 😄

After eating, we introduced ourselves to one another. Some spoke of how they discovered Steemit and what their content is about. While sharing our Steemit journeys, we also got to talk about motivation and reasons why some people left the platform.

As @steemitph and @dandalion said during the event, earning in Steemit is not easy and we should not always think about the money. Sometimes we also need to give more to receive more.

After the event, we went outside to take photos. I look forward to meeting these people again in the near future. (I created a gif of our group shots 😆)

I would love to attend more events like this. Meeting and talking to other people teaches us many things. It was fun meeting you guys. See you on the next meet up! 👍😁👍
