WINTER is here! Do you wanna build a SNOWMAN?
First of all, I would like to share a quote that I have read last November 2017. It was made by Albert Camus and it goes: "Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower".
Flowers are really very beautiful and brings color to our environment. Autumn becomes a second spring in a way that in this season, tree's leaves start to change from green to yellow, red, orange and brown.
Currently, it is winter here in Japan. Snow is quite abundant this year and because of that, I was able to come up with a new quote: "Snow is the second leaves". It may seem deep, but you will realize the whole meaning of it after reading this post!
To start:
I am currently living in Tokyo, Japan for about 1 year and 1 month already. In my stay here, we seldom have snow during winter, but the wind is very cold. In some cases where in there was snow, it usually lasted for less than 5 hours and easily melts when it reaches the ground.
In this year (2018) we just had a very rare phenomenon where in we were able to experience 大雪 ( direct translation will be: BIG SNOW). Snow fell for almost a day and eventually causes snow to pile up for about 1 foot high.
It was my first time to experience that heavy snow. As I looked outside from the second floor of our company building, the view so mesmerizing! At that very moment, there was happiness within me. In Japanese, they call it SHIAWASE!
At around 2pm, we were requested to go home early because of the danger brought by the heavy snow.
When we arrived at the dormitory, my Japanese friend helped me in making a BIG SNOWMAN, but the eyes looks a little weird. We actually utilized the remains of my dead cherry tomato.
After making a snowman, I had a short walk near our dormitory in search for something interesting. For about 5 minutes, I found myself standing on a small bridge with a small river below.
On the other side of the bridge, a CHERRY BLOSSOM tree just caught my attention. It was very interesting because: every spring season, the tree looks pinkish white because of the flowers; in summer, the flowers die and the green leaves remain; in autumn, the leaves starts to wither and eventually fall. In normal winter days here in Tokyo, the tree looks somewhat boring because it looks dead with only a trunk and branches, but it becomes interesting when snow starts to settle on its branches.
"Snow is the second leaves."
THANK YOU!
