What's up in Singapore?
Singapore people love to gather in a round table usually in Saturday nights for bonding. Yes, it's always a family affair in weekends. They love to talk about children's achievements in school, job promotions, family affairs, business transactions, or just promoting family interactions over the week. Gathering around the table, every hand should be busy dropping his or her favorite food into the boiling pot. "Hotpot" literally means an electrical equipment pot with a soupbase in one hundred degrees. Soupbase should be a tasty soup loaded with variety of veggies, scallop, dried abalone, beans and meat to mention a few; boiled for long periods to get extra special taste.
All foods are pre- cooked like sausages, fishball, meatballs, shabu-shabu because they are processed ones but veggies and seafoods should remain fresh. Some may add prawns which symbolizes hapiness, long noodles for longevity, slice fish and abalone for abundance, and dumplings for wealth. You have all the choices of food to drop and enjoy picking on to your plate. Isn't it interesting? And the long talks and laughters make hotpot so so much fun. In totality, "Hotpot" means hapiness overload, tummy overload, in an extra special Saturday family bonding.
