My journey as OFW
It is very difficult for a father to work abroad to make money. To satisfy the needs of his family, and to provide a good life for his children.
I'm a former OFW I just want to share the life of an OFW.
Almost five years working abroad and have endured the hardship of living my family in the Philippines.
Here's our room here we're going to rest whenever our work ends. Not too compotable because we have lots of bedbugs that bite us. There are also cockroaches, a small comfort room, we also have a small tv, refrigerator, oven, rice cooker and other kitchen utensils. Our electricity is free. We are 8 Filipino in the same room.
This is Loloy my workmate, if you notice that our lunch was put in a plastic cellophane,so that we will not wash lunch boxes when we get home because we're tired from our work. How lucky you are if you asign in to another place and have a free meal so that you will not spend more money on food you can save your money.
Me fixing our tv antenna.
When we we’re in Heat Cave in Jeddah I’m with my friends and co-workers. The water inside the cave is very clear and deep it is also cold. We only use a bicycle when we go there it took us 2 hours to get there from our work place to the cave. But its all worth it. Because when you get to the cold water of the cave, all the stress of your body will get away.
We also have a gym in our accomodation and a basketball court, we sometimes held a league in basketball to have some fun.
Me having picture in the gym with some equipment.
Me and my teammate, basketball is my favorite sports. And my favorite team is GSW.
I’m in the middle of the desert. It is just a walking distance from our work place
Every rest day we gathered together to know each other, we talk about our life having some joke. Friday is our rest day. We buy food for us to share with each other. We celebrate Christmas and new year together. We are like family, we support each other too.
Lining up to pick up our salary, sometimes it took 4hours to wait to get your salary beacause of so many workers from other country too.
Once in a month we go to city to send money to our family in Philippines. And we buy our groceries too for one month because the fare of the taxi there is too costly. So you need to buy all you need.
I work there as an Industrial Painter, this is my workplace.
It is my favorite restaurant there, I love how they cook their “kabsa” its delicious.
And this is the result of my hard work in abroad a comfortable home for my family and for myself and i also bought a gift for myself.
Even if it is hard to adjust living in other country don’t loss hope, because all your sacrifices will end if you asked help from God above.
Salute to those Filipino workers abroad.
