Teenage pregnancy in the Philippines

in #philippines7 years ago

What if one day you find out that you're caring a baby or you're are already a father? However, you are still studying? or worst still in Senior high?

This maybe out of the niche of my blogging however this has been a question for most teenager out there. Teenagers nowadays have a relationship with someone, we cannot stop the change of culture (if it's already a culture for younger generation).

According to https://psa.gov.ph/tags/teenage-pregnancy; "One in ten young Filipino women age 15-19 has begun childbearing: 8 percent are already mothers and another 2 percent are pregnant with their first child according to the results of the 2013 National Demographic and Health Survey (NDHS)."

Accidents happen but it is not just you walking along the highway when suddenly someone crashed and you became pregnant! It is always the agreement of both male and female to do the "thing" that lead to this. Imagine your future spiraling down as you may not be able to regain if both parties don't agree with what happened.

I am not against babies, they are adorable and cute. However, being a teenager who depends on parents for financial concerns and studies, we should always balance check if our minds agree with what our heart is feeling. The problem here is who will take care of your baby, who will buy milk, who would take your baby to the hospital, the financial concerns considering you need to study and pay tuition but your baby also needs care and nutrition?

Straight talk, if you are multiplying situation that hinders you from graduating due to financial issues how will you be able to solve this problems. There are others who became strong and successful because of their mistakes from the past but rather than going through that you can decide on not going to that path yet and focus on studying.

Graduating and earning a degree will help you become financially independent from your parents. You are also helping them relieve the burden of finding ways to pay for your tuition, allowance and school materials. Also, if you finish your studies and earn a degree you can pay your parents back by helping them with financial troubles they may have.
