Bewitched By The Enchanted River

If you never paid a visit to this place, it's time to pack up your swimming outfits and drive to Enchanted River.
Enchanted River has become a famous tourist attraction in the Philippines. It is located in Barangay Talisay, Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur. The Deep blue spring lagoon is located in the middle of the jungle and its water flows into the sea which is part of the Pacific Ocean. Its beauty is very enchanting and you would really want to jump into the crystal clear blue water when you see it. It’s a perfect getaway for summer.
The place is more almost 2 hours’ drive from my place. It is quite far from the main road and you have to pass in a rough (jungle-like) road. By the way, due to the high amount of people going here, the government has worked out to beautify the roads. Going to Enchanted River at this time will be much easier than before.
Do you know that this spring is very deep that nobody has ever reached its bottom? Many professional divers tried to dive into the cold spring to reach the bottom but all were unsuccessful. There is also a myth that this river is being protected by “enchantress”. No wonder they named it Enchanted River. At 12 noon, the caretaker of the river will ring its bell and all the people should come out of the water. That’s the signal that all big fishes will come out to eat. This is kinda creepy for me when I saw all the fishes. Imagine I have been swimming for hours but I haven’t seen them all until the caretaker rang the bell. These fishes are smart. LOL.
SAD REALITY
This river was very beautiful and very clear when it was not discovered by outsiders/ tourists. When we came here, the beautiful crystal clear blue lagoon has become imperfect. It’s no longer enchanting due to the high volume of people going here exploiting the area and disrespecting the river. As its beauty started to fade, the government of Surigao Del Sur had closed the Enchanted River. People can still swim in the river on the riverside segregated far from the main deep blue lagoon. People are allowed only to swim in that assigned area. The government had made a good decision in closing the Enchanted River to revive its beauty.
Revival
It has been a year now, and we have seen the big changes on the lagoon. Its life has come back! Thanks to the Government of Surigao del Sur who had made an effort in reviving the beauty of Enchanted River.

Crystal clear water really fascinated me to dive into waters. This is one of the place I want to visit the enchanted river. Wish that someday I will have time to see it and experience the cool water of this river.
