Sri Lanka to build its first ever pharmaceutical manufacturing zone

Jan 08, 2018 (LBO) – State Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Corporation and Pharma Zone Private Limited is to sign an agreement to build the first ever exclusive pharmaceutical manufacturing zone of Sri Lanka in Welipenna Area of Kalutara district.

The Pharma Zone will facilitate the local pharmaceutical manufacturers with sufficient land for manufacturing plants and basic infrastructure facilities for smooth operation of Pharma production facilities.

Pharma Zone is a BOI approved company whose principals are Sultan Ibrahim, the Sultan of Johor and Patrick Lim Soo Kit, a leading Malaysian entrepreneur.

Their investment vehicle, Inti Kemuncak Sdn Bhd is a property developer based in Malaysia focusing on large scale property development in the Asian region.

Inti Kemuncak is the innovative developer of major townships and urban regeneration projects including Coronation Square, a 1.5 billion US dollar international class urban mixed development located within the Ibrahim International Business District (IIBD) in Johor Bahru.

Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne along with other representatives is scheduled to be participated in the agreement signing event which is to be held today.

Sri Lanka is looking forward to achieve the government’s target of localizing production of in excess of 100 million US dollars of pharmaceutical products.
