THINGS THAT MAKE MINISTERS: HANDLING THE ANOINTING

Galatians 5:13 (KJV), For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another

The anointing is one of the greatest liberties in which we flow as children of the Most High God. Sadly, this liberty has been used for vice in the body of Christ.

One of the most common examples of vice is done in the name of guarding men of God. This vice has grown to be an acceptable norm in the church because it has become embedded in its culture and systems.

It is often times done in such an extreme manner that it stumbles many Christians because it communicates the deception that God cannot adequately protect His own. Where is the imitation of the Christ in such matters? Our Lord and master was thronged by multitudes but He did not deploy Roman guards around Him.

But in our day, ministers whose congregations barely equal to the number Jesus walked with surround themselves with security to “guard the anointing.” Some men, as they grew in the anointing became inaccessible to people. Access to them requires going through “the secretary of the secretary of the secretary…”

This is understandable if done because of the man of God’s busy schedule, but for some, these protocols 'prove' that these men of God are in a class of their own and cannot deign to mingle with “lesser mortals.”

The God you serve anointed you for the sake of people. You should not seek to be deliberately inaccessible to them. Also, the eyes of the Lord preserve knowledge (Proverbs 22:12). If you know Him, He will keep you. How you handle power and the anointing of God upon your life qualifies you as a true minister of the gospel.

May humility be your mark: love all men. Let God be your ultimate protection.

GOLDEN NUGGET: One of the things that qualify you as a minister is how you handle power and the anointing upon your life.

PRAYER: Father, I thank you for this instruction on what makes ministers. As you have cautioned that men should submit one to another, I submit even unto them that I minister to. The anointing and the power that you have given me is not a reason for me to be proud. My life is a pattern of humility and teaches to many the things that make true ministers of the gospel. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
