Attributed perfection the greatest obatacle to productivity in life

This post talks about perfection, especially when it is attributed and not inherent.
Attributed perfection is funny because it comes from people. It is given. You don't own it. You see why I don't like attributed perfection. It happens everyday on social media. People form a cult-like following around your timeline. They praise your strength of character, praise your articulate posts and the intelligence in it, your sense of humor, and your family. The day a screenshot is flying everywhere, they will withdraw the perfection they gave you. Things will never remain the same again. This thing puts the fear of God in me.
I believe these words by J. J Omojuwa. He inspired this post. He tweeted,
"No. I don't want to be who you folks want me to be. I want to be basking in my imperfections, and thriving in my strencompany
Beware of attributed perfection. This is why people post only edited pictures, pictures of them chilling in the best restaurants, and eating exotic dishes; pictures of them hanging out in the best hotels and in the best conference rooms; in the finest cars, and with the best company.
Attributed perfection is why people keep their homesteads, siblings, parents, job, out of our sight. We don't see those ones. We only see things as they want those who had given them the perfection tag should see.
Continuous improvement is better than attributed perfection. You're growing, and you'll get there. You'll have it all.
Folks are looking to make a saint out of you; to make a big boy/girl out of you; so they can put you on a kind of pedestal; so they can stall your hustle, stall your private, continuous progress; so they can steal the real you forever; so you'll live for them and not for yourself; so you'll spend all your days trying to figure out what people want from you, and not what you want for yourself; so they can wake up one morning and take the perfection they've given you off you. Why are you ashamed of your imperfections and shortcomings? You should own it. Imperfections puts you in a kinetic state; to strive towards inherent perfection. It is not so for attributed perfection. It is your greatest enemy because people gave it to you; and it gives you a false sense of arrival. There's no need for movement. Let's let our flaws and shortcomings breathe. Own your shame. Own your background. Own your mistakes, but keep growing.
Have a Nice Day. :)
Good post.
People really need their freedom, perfectionist is like been in bondage.
Thanks
Take responsibility for your mistakes, but always know you have what it takes to strive to become better. COURAGE! FAITH!
When you do things to stay relevant in social media...Tomorrow is my birthday and people in social media who 'doesnt' know the way i live my life or what i am passing through, or what my my bank acounts look like are already asking me i should invite them to a birthday i have no plans for, haven't made the cake either. Now why am i relating this? If i wanted to satisfy them and their eyes i will go above my way to do that just to remain 'relevant' in their eyes... And afterwards i go back to maybe being broke, unhappy etc while i put a smile on someone who will 'forget' me in a twinkle of an eye after the said 'birthday'. Thanks for sharing.
I like your type and Ego. Thanks for the gist. I've started to celebrate you from here. #sweetestgloeubday
