Jose Pereztroika aka Perezcope debunks the fictional history of Luminor 2020
Jose Pereztroika aka Perezcope has published an amazing and well-researched article on the history of tritium-based luminous compounds, which has has never been told in this depth.
The timeline makes clear that Panerai's claim that G. Panerai & Figlio developed a tritium-based luminous compound in 1949 is pure fiction.
The production of tritium is a complicated process that requires vast infrastructure like nuclear reactors or particle accelerators. Furthermore, tritium was unobtainable in 1949 which ultimately led to a massive delay of the first American thermonuclear bomb. Unless Giuseppe Panerai had a secret nuclear reactor in his basement, there is no way he could have obtained tritium in 1949.
The patent Panerai is referring to is just a trademark registration and not a patent for an invention as a claimed. It will be interesting to see if Panerai will change their storyline or if they will continue to perpetuate fictional narratives.
