Delicious healthy barley lunch/dinner!!!
Healthy Pearl Barley Pulao for all Steemian
Today I am sharing Healthy Pearly Barley pulao recipe. It is very healthy whole grain recipe. There is 60% fiber in Perley Barley and lots of protein. When prepared with vegetables it gets very healthy! I prepared it with onion, tomatoes and someIndian spices. You can add Italian spices in it. It is a healthy and tasty way to add whole grain in you diet.
Ingredients:
1 cup barley rinsed and soaked in the water for 3 hours
7-8 curry leafs
1/4 cup green peas
1/4 cup corn
1 medium onion chopped
1 tomato chopped
2 pinch of homemade Garam-masala
1/2 tea spoon turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
1 cup Barley soaked in the water for 3 hours
1/4 cup cooking oil
1 teaspoon salt or to taste
Method:
In presser cooker add soaked barley, 3 cups water, 1/2 teaspoon salt and a pinch of Garam masala. Put the presser cooker’s lid on and cook Barley on high heat till the presser about to get whistel then reduce heat to low and cook for 10 minutes. Remove pressure cooker from the heat and keep it aside.
Next, In a frying pan, heat oil on medium heat.
Add cumin seeds and curry leafs. Add onions and fry for 3 minutes.
Add turmeric powder and fry for 30 seconds.
Add tomatoes and cook on low heat till soft. Add coriander powder, red chili powder and salt. Cook for 3 minutes.
Add vegetables and cook for 3-4 minutes. Add cooked barley and mix well with spices. keep cooking and stirring for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat.
And finally Sprinkle chopped coriander leafs on the top of Healthy Pearl Barley Pulao.
Mouth watering and very Healthy Pearl Barley Pulao is ready to serve in lunch or dinner. It is perfect for kids lunch box.
