In a world spinning out of control
Where caution has been thrown out of the wind
Where the poor walk miles to get something to feed on and the rich walk miles to digest food as a result of its abundance
Where we do not see ourselves in each other
Where the government are parasitic over the citizens as they let animals make away with our money
Where children of a certain community only belong to their parents and not the community
Where a single mother can struggle from hardship to hardship to raise five children and five children find it difficult and a herculean task to cater for a single mother at Old age
Where the religious leaders want their followers to become slaves under them and also to their children when they evict from this world
Where someone who is in possession of eight wants to rob off that of someone who is in possession of two just so they can make them wretch and always seek their audience for assistance at all times of need
Where we attend jumat on Fridays, church on Sundays and other different religious gatherings on any stipulated day, we listen to the sermons demonstrating different forms of sigh echoing how deep and touching the sermons are, but we go back home to continue with our regular way of life. No change
Where we read the quran with melodious and soprano voices, but we do not let it reflect on us
Where we speak in tongues, but we do not speak in love
Where we master the Bible but we do not master the teachings of Jesus
Where the well-to-do people of the society build houses and leave them empty and unoccupied while we have vast numbers of people living on the streets, sleeping under bridges and the likes
Where you are only loved genuinely at birth and at death, but you will have to manage through from your birth to death
Where we blame everything on the west, when in fact all focus should be on ourselves
Where we think cars and bling-bling will make us feel satisfied, when in fact happiness is of choice, regardless of the situations we found ourselves in
My dear brothers and sisters, when all of these become the order of the day, it’s time we change inside
We need to open our eyes, we should not throw away what’s right aside, before the day comes where there’s nowhere to run or hide!
We all want to leave a better planet for our children, but have we ever thought of leaving a better children for our planet?
