#BrickSaturday - Kathmandu, Nepal
This is my SIXTH entry in to the joint contest currently being run by @erikah and @photocircle. I hope to do all seven categories! One more to go! Thanks to @eoj for encouraging me to participate!
We first found out about the massive earthquake that hit Nepal in 2015 by watching the news. My husband @eoj's work brought us both there for about three months as he assisted in the relief process. While he was at work, I would spend my days exploring Nepal's capital city, Kathmandu. One of the most famous places that the earthquake did not spare is the UNESCO world heritage site Durbar Square. It is where the royal palace is located. Durbar Square has lots of spectacular architecture that showcases the talents of Newar craftsman over centuries. Most of the buidings in the square are made out of red brick like the one presented in this photo. You will notice that due to earthquake damage, the wall is barely holding up the wooden carved window. Pigeons find homes in the nooks of these damaged structures as well.
