This will be a long winded post but its worth the read because very few dare to write about conmen in Pattaya.
Why do conmen thrive in Pattaya?
Firstly its because of the deflamation laws in Thailand and secondly its all the fucktards protecting them online, oh this guy is a nice guy really, oh he was just in trouble, oh he was having problems, oh he gave me a free pizza once, oh his mummy was rude to him when he was 8 years old, oh he got ripped off first.... I've seen many guys protecting conmen over the years because they met them in a bar once and had a drink and say he was nice to them, well good for them but its thanks to guys like that, is why they can keep robbing, tricking and conning people.
I have been silenced about this matter for 2 years just like I shut my mouth about all the other conmen and dishonest guys, but this particular guy is still stealing, ruining peoples lives. I will get revenge legally, this post is to soley save other people money at my risk. (and no, nobody is going to attack him because of this post, nobody does anything in this town, just talk)
I would also like to state that it was him alone that did all this, not his family or friends. They are innocent, but saying that his dad is siding with him, I will discuss that later. And before people say it, no one is getting shot or killed, beaten up or maimed, (sadly) neither me nor them, a lot of people seem to think we are in the wild west but its not true.
When I first met Sean, he was setting up a pizza business with his father, it was good pizza and I liked everything he said, he can really talk the talk, even now he can. He should have been a politician. I tried to help/advice him and I kept in touch, when he got setup in Jomtien, (beach road) I went to see him a few times a week for updates with his business. I was very happy with how many hours he put in, his work ethics, his lofty aims and business plans. He did some great deals on pizza instead of advertising, thats only a good idea if you get the balance right. But I think it was damaging his business a lot long term. He introduced pastrami sandwiches and the sizes was very (too) generous.
Sean came here with nothing as far as I know and he had a few jobs, I admired that because I did the same, he was quite arrogant at times, but sometimes you need to be running a business imo. It was great to see someone making a go of it. At the time I was quite sick and I used to talk to his dad about his similar health issues. Eventually they expanded and got a place on Thappaya road. It was going very well from what he was telling me, then his uncle arrived and there was 3 farang seemingly trying to live off one restaurant which is almost impossible in Pattaya. I said to sean that he needs to expand, he said he wanted to but didnt have the funding. His uncle was scammed also but thats his private info and not my business to tell, but from what sean told me, he didnt pay his uncle most of his salary.
At the time skeeter was robbing people blind and I was one of the few to know, but because of the fanboys I shut up, so he continued to rob, but I wasnt sure enough to accuse him, so I left it. I was telling sean about all the scumbags here that blow investment money on pussy and alcohol. (skeeter) I kept saying, never be that guy. Sean looked up to me because I was always buying bars, at the time we needed investors and I told him he should get one. But the difference was, I spent 100% of the investment on more bars and we made money.
I told him if I was him, he should get a branch in naklua, east pattaya then Bangkok because he had one in Jomtien already. Get some real business and real money in before taking over the world like he wanted to. I said how much do you need? He said he needed 1m baht, so I went to the bank and tried to borrow it, we had no chance of getting it.
I then spoke to a good friend of mine that had invested in me, by now sean said his plans would be around 2 million, I said thats fine providing its all spent on good businesses/equipment. When we had the first meeting with the investor, sean had changed it to 3 million. Normally guys like me refering people should get a referral fee but because they were both friends, I said I don't want money, just free food once a week and I will post pics of my food on facebook (as I did anyway)
I didn't get asked to go to anymore meetings and my friend invested, hes not an experienced investor, neither was I, that money should have been dripped to Sean as and when its needed, seeing receipts and checking, but lessons learnt.
After Sean got the money, his attitude changed, people were complaining about stuff and he didn't seem to care, I seen him on soi 6 buying rounds and rounds of drinks in. My heart sank when I seen it, I told him he had better start making a good returns. Every time I seen him he was real stressed and I kept asking him for progress updates, he talks the talk, hes very very good at that, but I started to realise it was all bollocks and he was hammering ice. Very quicky he blew all the 3 million, his lady put stuff on facebook in Thai, thanks for the motorbike sean, thanks for the gold, thanks for getting my land back sean (they borrowed against it before) I was furious and confronted him but I was fed more bollocks and he even had the cheek to get angry with me when I called him out on the bullshit.
Then one day I was sitting with a loanshark that I know and we were talking about debts, he said sean paid him back the 500k he owed. I said let me guess, it was 2 months ago? He said how do you know? I said that is when my friend invested in him, I was furious, why did he not state that he had debts to pay?.... all this money was only for new business. I confronted him and he just started talking loads of bollocks, always excuses.
One day I hear hes working at hooters and then I think shit, the 3 million has gone hasnt it, he gave me aload of bollocks about learning from them and making the businesss more as he didn't need to take a salary. The other issue I got shitty with sean about is he paid himself and his lady a good salary every month even with losses. I am sorry but when a business is doing well, the owner needs to eat shit and live like shit and take out as little as possible, my wife never gets paid when we are starting a business and I don't take any until its profiting. Too many guys do this, he argued he was working hard and needed money for his vices to relax. Sean was struggling to pay the loanshark (he borrowed again) and he was going down to hooters to threaten to expose him, everytime he did that sean was forced to find the money from somewhere, maybe why he was let go. In the mean time sean was trying to sell the restaurant from under his family and said he was simply selling the profit line and not the business, I said don't bullshit me.
Seans customers service skills were getting worst and he became more distant from the business, I wasn't contacting him anymore, everytime I seen him he was wired and angry with the world. One day he asked me to come to his house in jomtien, (my wifes the landlord) he still had a lot of kitchen stuff there, because they cooked from home. He lied to me and said he needed to see me about the house (my wife owns it) then he asked me to borrow 500k against his equipment, I said are you kidding me? You took 3 million from my mate and blew it on drugs/vices. And hes had 20k back so far..... he said he needed the money to grow his business and send his uncle on holiday. This was the time he was losing the thappaya restaurant, he bullshitted and said he was closing it as he only opened it for branding purposes and now his name is out there, he achieved his goals, said its making good money, I said stop lying, its not making money, he then said stop talking about money, its not about that, look at the bigger picture, I said it is about the fucking money.... I gave up.
I then asked him to call a restaurant friend of mine to take over it, sean gave him loads of bullshit and lies and said we can open a new company and cut all the other investors out, my friend walked away. Sean then lost his business and started selling the stuff online, at this point I went to the lawyer who said he will lock him up for his theft. Sean says that its not theft because he lost it on business, I said you brought no assets, no receipts, no nothing, stop lying. The problem with sean is he wanted to sell the world pastrami, he was expecting huge sales to all restaurants, hotels here but he left the fundamentals of business behind, make money first and build your business up. There is no return on drugs.
He owed another person in the restaurant business around 500k and this guy asked me to stop proceedings against sean because if hes in jail, no one will get paid, I reluctantly agreed, but sadly this gave him chance to sell all of his stuff. By this time I reached out to his uncle and told him everything, he didn't want to say a bad word about Sean because hes family, but he listened to everything I said. I cant talk to much about this as its not fair on him, but hes lost a lot of cash a lot and time.
Seans loanshark called me and told me he was going to do some bad things to sean, I seen the pictures of what he had planned and I asked him to wait a week, because I didn't want my wifes house damaged, as Sean was still in it. I told Sean I have saved your ass and he said no you saved his ass, then he started threatening the loanshark. And I gave up, the loanshark said he will throw him out of the house for me, but I said lets wait til his dad returns back from usa, because he was away for a while. I was hearing more and more bad things, and I was threatened that if I went down there, his mafia mates would kill me.
By now the ice has turned Seans brain to jelly, he thinks hes some huge mafia hotshot, yes its true lots of ice heads were going in and out of the house, fighting, things being set on fire, cops said he locked his lady in the bathroom once and she called them. He said his ladies family were top dog mafia and that they get good money, but hes not allowed it yet.
Sean started telling me he was untouchable and he would help me out, I said pay people back, I don't need your help. Then he threatened to cut the ice supply off to Pattaya, I said thats fucking good then, then he started making out me and my friends are all dealers and he knew the people following me lol.
In the meantime one of my friends sold him 300k worth of kitchen equipment on a payment plan and he got fucked over also, he also sent Sean some staff and they didn't get paid at the end of the month either. I heard other stuff but I am trying to stick to the facts.
The reason why my wife owned the house he was staying in was because seans dad had a long term rental deal with a fixed amount he could buy the house at. I was looking to invest and the price was very attractive, so I asked sean if he could get me the deal to buy the house at that great price and I will give him my word that he can stay there rent free for 2 years. I asked a friend to send me 4.7 m for the house and said we will buy it and split the profit on it later, so its not really my wifes house but it is legally and for everyone concerned its my wifes house. I should have threw him out when he was doing drugs in the house and not paying my friend. But the problem was if I threw him out then my friend has less chance of getting his investment back, also I am a man of my word and I honoured the 2 years rent free, we also brought all the furnishings, fittings but not the kicthen business equipment.
By month 21 I was getting sick of it all and I promised his father I wouldn't throw Sean out and let them keep using the house, providing he comes back and sorts Sean out and get him back on track. I still didn't ask for money, but I made it clear in August its 2 years and they need to pay rent. Last week I messaged Seans dad and asked him for rent, I got loads of lies back saying I threw them out.... total bollocks. (they stayed there for 2 years free and moved out) they left the house unlocked, trashed and empty, all door broken, windows smashed, no sockets even and hes had no electric for 6 months, he had been stealing it, so we have a bill to pay for that also. I was furious they took the water pump and aircons also, the oven etc. He stripped the lot. I contacted his dad and his dad started getting angry and defensive about me slandering his son and started saying he is actually mafia, why do you think hes not? (he said) It was complete madness. I was hoping his dad would man up and sort Sean out, but hes sided with him, Seans sold his truck and all his stuff and spent money he sent on drugs.
In the meant time he was busted for drugs and cops have had his passport, he thinks hes untouchable now, I don't think I need to explain whats going on there.
Sean had managed to blag a new restaurant without a deposit, he offered the landlord a percent of the pizza business, so he got in for free, told him he made 1m a month before and gave sob stories of being unfairly treated, he said cops victimised him. This is why sean ran off from our building. Also his neighbours told us so many bad things that he did.
Around 7 days ago, Seans dad said I should come see them at there new place (helmi restaurant on thappaya near jomtien beach) I went down there to confront them and it was just sean there, he blamed his uncle, he blamed me, blamed police, blamed the loanshark for taking all his money, blamed everyone. Says he took the aircons to stop them getting stolen... I said why didn't you phone me to say you were leaving, I was gonna find out what you did to the house at some point! (he blamed his uncle and dad for not telling me wtf lol) He agreed he would pay the electric bill, (he blamed the electric company as they refused to accept part payments) I realised I was wasting my time and left after 20 or 30 minutes of listening to excuses. His eyes were fucked from lack of sleep. He complained about how unlucky he was with all the problems, he said hes a good guy, doesn't smoke or drink! he only smoke ice... wtf!!!! I said you bring all these problems on yourself.
Next day I came back to warn the landlord, hes a nice guy from Finland, Sean hadn't paid rent for 3 months, he showed me the messages with excuses, Seans a good talker yet again! He got in there with no deposit, even borrowed money for a phone, the landlord went to buy a lock and locked up the restaurant the next day, when he got there all his stuff was missing, sean had sold his tv, equipment, anything he could, sean said it was the neighbours that stolen it! I advised the landlord to sell everything he can to recover the money, but most of it was junk that sean couldn't sell. Him and his lady didn't go to the police because they know it will waste time and more money.
This is what prompted me to write, because hes now homeless and will be blagging his next victims with his tales of woe. He will go on forever. My wife has started legal proceedings and hopefully hes gone soon. More details on that as it happens.
Sean has been violent towards friends, all his family and customers. Be careful if you confront him about his lies. Any information where he is or any victims would be appreciated, the more people that file the reports the better, no one else will do this. I don't want to see another person get scammed.
