Gotta Be Patient, YosteemCreated with Sketch.

in #patience6 years ago

I may have realized partly the reason why I was thinking along the lines of, "what's the purpose?" and have been going into regression:

Patience

That's the most weird word. Doesn't sound the way it's spelled. English word creators were high.

I lacked payshuns.

See, at least that makes more sense.

I felt like the results were too slow to appear, for all the effort I'd been putting in. This caused the distraction that prevented me from following through with my tasks consistently.

Doing them once a day is one thing;
doing them once every day is entirely something else

Grammatically it means the same thing, but I wanted to add a dramatic line c'mon.

And guess who reminded me of this?

Gary Vee

The things he says seem like they're generic and don't apply to you, but once you observe yourself a little more, it becomes apparent that it has always applied to you.

And patience was one of those things.

Another thing which feels so tough to apply is:

Enjoying the process.

For this one to happen, there's a great need of being mindful. And that's where meditation comes in.

Man I'm really pushing the self-promoting antics to its limit here.

So far, I've found that I'm great at planning things - creating a schedule, arranging the order of tasks optimally (so that I can do them one by one seamlessly) (that bracket bit was redundant wasn't it) and doing all of this properly on the first day.

After doing all that, one the second day (& onward), is where I slip.

Everything starts feeling monotonous.

However, this doesn't happen with brushing, does it? You do it every day, yet you don't think twice about doing it.
Why? Because you know why you're doing it; you have patience with that task because you realize it's going to take forever to keep those calcium chompers clean.

I dunno why that example of brushing came in because it doesn't seem to fit in with the 'enjoying the process' bit.

...

...

...

Who enjoys brushing...?

So here's how to enjoy the process:

Observe the Cause (your task) & its Effect (on you)

I do this with my physiotherapy exercises for fixing my sprained shoulder - while I'm doing the exercises, I can sense the effect it has on the sprained area. I can then see that one day my arm will be fixed and I can play sports again (woohoo!)

This makes me want to do that task of physio.

Where To From Here?

Few days back I was thinking about the idea of trying new things (it was in that same life purpose post.)

Once I stick with the schedule I've made, after putting patience into the equation, I'll have plenty of free time in the evening. This is where I can make my every day, different - by trying new things.

So finally I'll be able to do both: solve the problem of getting stuck in a place thinking about purpose and try new things as Gary Vee suggests; essentially hitting 2 birds with 1 cannon.
