Ferroptosis-pathology

Hello everyone,i would like to tell about ferroptosis in brief manner.ferroptosis means Iron induced ferroptosis.it means increase in iron levels in boy causes apoptosis.

The best marker for ferroptosis is lipid-peroxides.because in cytosol ferrous combines to H2O2 and gives a free radical.that causes increase in lipid peroxide level so that it causes apoptosis.

But here there is a master regulator present in cell called glutathione peroxidase 4 which controls lipid peroxide levels.but here it has no control over lipid peroxide because it doesn't have reduced form gluathione.

It causes CNS diseases like alzhiemers,parkinson disease,stroke and it also plays major role in cancer therapy to kill tumor cells.
