Transparency

Transparency is something this society has lost, we don't care how or why as long as money keeps rolling in and the institutions keep "functioning", we put people in charge but do not hold these people accountable we instead give them promotions, politicians and banks played a major role in achieving this mental state in society transparency is good but utopian like patents, yes reasearch and devolopment is needed in fact I consider it one of the biggest necessities of humanity due to our inherent curiosity and need to improve present systems etc...
If all patents would become open source then no "incentives" for R&D which would stop progress? Really or is it just that the greed of those who invent is imposed by our economic models if you contribute to society that alone is not enought you need to pay investigators etc... so they must atleast get return of investment but is this really the issue or is it that our socieconomic models are broken?
On one side making all patents or knowledge open source would it really stagnate R&D?
Bitcoin had no patents did that stop bitcoin from gaining first mover advantage no?
Did that not push foward a whole bunch technological discoveries while keeping bitcoin at the top?
So why should everything else be different?
Why should patents be hidden?
To protect investors ?
Shouldn't we first and foremost protect humanity and its knowledge as a whole instead?
Would it really stop R&D or impulse it?
Shouldn't patents be open source but have a 5% tax for 10 years or 5 would it not boost humanity while retaining a profit for the devolopers?
Above all, health and energy should they not be public is it not a human right to have basic needs fullfilled then how can these two fields have patents to protect profit?
