Omoide Poroporo/Only Yesterday is the story of Taeko Okajima, a twenty-something woman currently working as an office lady for a large company in Tokyo. She decides to a take a break from her life in the big city, and takes a trip out to the countryside to visit her brother-in-law.

Her time in the country side and becoming familiar with the hard work of a farmer while spending time with the villagers and her family brought back nostalgic memories. She began to remember her childhood; puppy love, awkward memories during her adolescence and many more. The time she spent away in the boonies made her question the path she has chosen.

My honest rating: 8.5/10
Highlights: Rated G (All ages) Feels good vibe; Author of Tale of Princess Kaguya & Grave of the Fireflies

I thought this movie will bore me to death but it's actually one of my favorites! Maybe because the overall vibe of the movie is serene, relaxing and made me miss the countryside so much.

Aside from the great animation, the approach of the story is just close to everyone's heart. It is realistic as it can be. Some reviews might say this is targeted for women who are going through some quarter life crisis but I beg to differ. Any gender can for sure relate! If you are looking for a movie that does not have any element of fantasy or supernatural, you can put this one on your list. It just captured my heart and I believe this is a must-watch!
