Swapsteem is not a traditional exchange, you don't need to deposit funds to our account in order to trade. All STEEM funds are kept in escrow contracts which can only be accessed by the Steem owner and the escrow agent( The agent can access the funds in the escrow in case of dispute only. Also the funds can only be released to one of the traders and no one else.).
Basically you own your Steem on Swapsteem.
