Parenting 101: How to teach you're children the "God's" way!
In Deuteronomy God speaks specifically to parents: "Teach the to your children... impress them on your children". Deuteronomy 11:19;6:7. These verses are compelling biblical mandates for parents to teach their children about God and his commandments.
In fact, Deuteronomy even tells parents how to teach. Saturate your child's environment with his words: "Talks about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates"(Deut. 6:7-9). In case you are a slow learner, Jehovah repeats the message in Deuteronomy 11:18-20. Christian parents should read these passages over and over again. These are verses of commitment. It is clear that God desires more than Sunday only teaching. Not only are you to know God's commandments, but you are to make them part of your daily life.
These passages in Deuteronomy also tell parents to teach by example, giving your children models to observe rather than commandments to obey. You must show your children how to walk in the way of the Lord. Parents are always on stage in front of their children. A fact that makes thier accountability in living as awesome responsibility.
But your witness is not limited to your children. You are told to write them on the doorsteps of your house and on your gates. It seems that Jehovah is laying down specific guidelines for Jehovah's families; they are to be examples to all who enter their homes. There should be no doubt who is the central figure in your household. Your family life should proclaim, " As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord" (Josh. 24:15).
