This reminds me so much of an article I wrote nearly a month ago where I talked about similar things.

I think what most parents fail to understand is that it's super important to let your child make mistakes. Parents usually have a habit of supervising and leading their children every step of the way, which sounds good, but doesn't allow the children to develop on their own and discover new things and interests.

Experience is a way better teacher than explanation, and that's why it's sometimes better to knowingly let your child make a mistake and let them learn on their own. That said, you obviously shouldn't go too far with it either. If it's something that can seriously harm your child, it's better to warn them beforehand in that case.
