Too Much Screen Time?

in #parentin4 years ago (edited)

COVID-19 has caused millions of students to be sent home and has made kids spend much more time on screens and other devices. 66% of children since the beginning of the pandemic are spending more time watching screens. 60% spend more than 3 hours per day on a device, nearly half spend more than 6 hours online every day, and 30% are online without supervision for more than 4 hours per day. This sudden influx of hours per day spent on devices has parents worried.

However, even though there are some negative effects of screens, they are still essential during the COVID-19 pandemic and can even have many positive effects. Devices can help kids connect to similar-minded peers, help them find a wider array of interests or hobbies, and can help them stay connected to family and friends.
