Mystery Solved? Decoding the Mysterious Stone Boxes of the Great Sphinx | Ancient Architects
We’ve all seen pictures of the Great Sphinx and some of us have even been lucky enough to visit, and whilst we gaze at the splendour of the statue, we often don’t notice some of the obvious yet finer details, and specifically, the fact that there are four rectangular, box-like constructions on its flanks – two on the northern side and two on the south.
They were uncovered by August Mariette in the 1850s as he was clearing away the sand from around The Sphinx and at that time there were in fact five of these boxes in total. Unlike most constructions in ancient Egypt, the arrangement of the boxes seems to be asymmetrical and somewhat random. So what are they?
Experts believe that the boxes around the Sphinx were in fact bases or pedestals for statues, an idea that I do agree with in part but why are they located asymmetrically around the Sphinx? Why does their positioning look so random?
I believe that these boxes and the Sphinx are in the fact the centrepiece of the Giza Plateau puzzle, and in the video I will be showing you how these boxes are central in the sacred geometrical layout of Giza.
They are attached to The Sphinx, but they connect the Sphinx with the Great Pyramid, the Pyramid of Khafre, the Valley Temple, the two Sphinx Temples, the Pyramid of Khenkawas, the Wall of the Crow and Gebel Ghibli. Watch now and please subscribe!
