Focusing On Our Common Goals For 2020
Happy New Year Steem
For many, including myself, the new year is a time to reflect on the previous years events. A time to tally up successes, and failures, and take a little time to think about how it all fits into the bigger picture of our lives. What have we learned? How have we grown? How will we use this growth, this newfound knowledge to go forth into 2020 and work towards our goals?

Goals
The vast majority of people on our planet share similar basic goals/needs.
People want to live in peaceful, secure environments. People want good health. They want uncontaminated, nutritious food and clean air and water for themselves, their families and communities. People want meaningful experiences and the freedom to be their best self.
Governments around the world will argue that their purpose is to insure that these basic common goals/needs of humanity are achieved and protected. If that’s truly the purpose of governments, then they have failed miserably.
Governments wage wars, destroying peace and security. Government violence against peaceful people creates fear and instability. Through endless laws, taxation and regulations governments create poverty, scarcity and desperation for most, while funneling prosperity and abundance to the top. Current global policies, implemented by these governments allow for the exploitation and destruction of the air, water, and food supply creating poor mental and physical health.
Rise Up
A beautiful short video by Tragedy and Hope featuring Garret John
In every corner of the world there is an undeniable failure of government policies to fulfill the purpose of achieving and securing these basic human goals/needs. This is creating increasingly angry and desperate populations. People start looking for who's at fault .
This environment is exactly what those in power need to stay in power. They need us to be divided. By controlling access to information via education systems and the media people are taught that their neighbors are to blame for the problems they are having.
Division is cultivated, celebrated, indoctrinated.
Galadriel:
The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true.
We do stand today, on this first day of the year and of a new decade, on the edge of a knife. Mainstream media would say we’ve never been so divided. While I can definitely see the division, how could you miss it, I also see how we’ve never been so connected. With the internet we have the ability to see our common goals/needs like never before. We can clearly see the common failures of the current centralized systems. We are seeing people rising up all over the world.
Unfortunately we have to deal with increasingly sophisticated control of available information. Mainstream media is manipulating us to blame each other for these failures, rather than the centralized systems.
Don’t Give In
Resist the lies that tell you to blame each other. Don’t give in to fear. Refuse to manifest a
culture of victimhood that divides with the intent to conquer us. Instead, try to look at your fellow human beings with compassion, with love rather than fear. As we work to accomplish our own personal goals for 2020 I hope we can take a look at our shared goals. In our own communities, whether online or in our neighborhoods, we have so many common goals and shared aspirations. I know even in this divisive environment if we focus on the things we all need, 2020 can be a year of very positive change. We can be the change we want to see.
I wish you all a very successful 2020!

Happy New Year to you too!
Amen!
I first saw the Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs Map in 2007 when I went to work at Camp Kuratli. I like that pyramid. It is a good way to look at the psychology of people. You kind of have to help people physically before you can help them locally, socially, culturally, emotionally, mentally, and even spiritually.
