[Newbie Guide] - Peace - Abundance - Liberty, Home of the Minnow Support Project.
The Peace, Abundance, Liberty network is home to the Minnow Support project. Many new people have been joining the chat lately but not all quite understand what it's about or how to use it. This guide is meant to help everybody that's been joining up and doesn't quite know how it all works, but first sign up!
Registering
Before you can take advantage of the bots that will upvote posts for you to help you as a minnow to get some exposure, you need to register. You can register by going to the #registration channel and typing $register yoursteemitname doing this will provide 2 alerts for you from 2 separate bots: Banjo and Minnowsupport.
These bots will instruct you to send 0.001 Steem to each of them from your steemit account to verify who you are with a unique memo message. To do this you should login to your steemit account and go to your wallet.
From your wallet you will click STEEM and then Transfer. This will provide you with a modal window with multiple fields, and what do you know, they are the exact fields you need based on what the bots have just instructed you to do. Enter the correct amount, which bot you are sending it to, and the unique memo for that particular bot. Do this for both bots.
After that has been completed, return to the registration chat and once again type $register yoursteemitname. You will then receive two more notifications from each of the bots confirming that you have successfully registered your steemit name and linked it to your chatroom username.
Upvoting
Once you have registered you can go into the Upvote-Resteem channel and type $upvote linkToPostYouWantToUpvote. The bots will automatically send a storm of upvotes to the post that you linked to and help boost that minnow's particular post.
Different Channels
There are quite a few channels:
- General is where most general chat happens.
- Bounties is where special requests are posted such as writing a user-guide for X amount of SBD.
- Upvote-resteem is where you should ONLY post your posts that you want to promote and/or have upvoted, don't clutter the other rooms with that or it'll be flagged as spam.
- Contests is where special contests are posted and participated in
- Peer-review is where you can post an article to have others review it and give you feedback to improve your articles.
The list goes on for quite a few, there are even women-only and men-and-trolls channels, the channels are fairly self-explanatory.

User Level
As you participate in the chat and community you may see that you or someone else you know LEVELS UP! These are notifications by the Tatsumaki bot to let you know how much you have been contributing and participating in the server. The higher the level you or someone else is, typically the longer they have been around, or more they contribute.
User Type
There are multiple different types of users on PAL and they rank pretty much in this order:
- Witnesses
- Whales & Dolphins - Non Members
- Greeter
- Member
- Registered
- Online
For the most part, they are listed based on how much they are giving back to the PAL and Steemit Communities and should essentially be respected in that order as well. See a Witness catching flak from an online user? If you must choose sides, it's typically more wise to side with the Witness. Each of these user types have different responsibilities, from providing steem and steem power, to helping newcomers get everything set, to providing part of their voting power, to leeching, to simply being in the chat.
Rules & Behavior
It is mostly common sense for how to act in the PAL server, but here are just a few reminders for those that are bit thick and need to be told specifically:
- Don't post your articles to be promoted in the incorrect channel, it is annoying to everybody, looked at as spam, and you might just get flagged because of it. You don't want to be flagged.
- Respect the other members of the community. Of course there are going to be people that troll, and others that just dislike each other on a molecular level. Try to steer clear of any behavior that is going to start drama, this is a community meant to uplift the Steemit community, we're not in highschool Cindy.
- Enjoy yourself! This is a community built to help uplift steemit and steemit users, be happy!
Hi shade. good post. quick question.. can I link my post here so everyone can follow and upvote me now?!?
As a comment to this post? I wouldn't. It's a REALLY old post, doubt anybody would see it anyways. You're better off linking them in the chat, or getting someone to curate your posts.

Namaste @sasha.shade
Thank you so much for this post :)
Strangely, I upvoted this post and instead of the amount increasing a bit it decreased - I don't know why that happened?
haha, glad you enjoyed the how-to guide. :)
Very helpful! Thanks
This is the reason why so many get upvotes from around 40 minnows singing up with steemvoter first, then almost 300 user take advantage of it.😨
you can me tell that again personally hahah
Nice article you have there mate. Thanks for the information! :)
I followed you @kurtmnl
