Why?
Moral relativism. That's why.
The theory being that people are born the way the are and there is no such thing as free will or conscience. Therefore who are you to judge what is right or wrong. If someone is born homosexual, lesbian, trans, necrophilia, bestiality, paedophile, coprophile or whatever, there is no end, and absolutely no choice, and no blame.
This is the logical extension of leftist ideology. Everything is a social construct (except what they are biologically born to do). Don't point this hypocrisy out though - they will screech at you and call you loads of names ending in -ist, -ism and -ic!
This is the insidious motivation behind the same sex marriage plebiscite. An ideology that seeks power by fragmenting society, pitting those fragments against each other, with the aim of making society unworkable. Then sweeping in with the promise to fix all the ills of the world caused by the debauchery of capitalism.
