The wait is finally over. After several delays and uncertainties, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much awaited film Padmavati now turned to Padmavat will finally release. The period drama will now be named after Sufi poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s 16th Century epic poem “Padmavat”.

About Padmavat
Padmavat an 16th century’s epic poem based on a historical account, the veracity of which is not confirmed about how Delhi sultan Alauddin Khilji shows the beautiful Rani Padmavati, Queen of Chittor, in a mirror and immediately fell for her.

Controversy
The controversy begins when rumours about the film starts that the film will portray a dream scene of romantic relationship between Rani Padmavati and an invading king, Alauddin khilji, who is a muslim sultan of Delhi.

After that Rajput community started protests against the film. The group had disrupted shooting and one member had slapped Bhansali on the set .Mannequin of Bhansali have been burned on various places and warned against the release of film that allegedly ruin the image of queen Padmavati. As queen Padmavati is deified and held as a symbol of female honour, specially for Rajputs.

After all the protests, the release date was postponed. The censor board appointed a special scad of members to consider protesters concerns and said there had been discussed at length.
Now the film will have a disclaimer to show saying that the film do not claim any historical accuracy. It also called for a second disclaimer saying that the film do not promote the practice of self-immolation by widows, out lawered in 19th century.

But still a question arises, will the disclaimers, the ‘I’ factor from Padmavati to Padmavat, the censor board’s special scad all these satisfies the rajput community? Let’s see.
