The Red Cross Showcasing Steemit! That's The Beginning Of Something GREAT

Great things in business are never done by one person. They're done by a team of people. - Steve Jobs

YES. And if you partner up with amazing people, you're half way there!

With the Red Cross Lanzarote I've found more than a partner for my project. I've met the perfect match.

Here's to strong business partnerships and corporate success!

The Red Cross is on Steem fire!

Since I got in touch with the Red Cross Lanzarote to make my charity idea happen, they're completely enthused about everything that has to do with the Steem network.

Obviously I didn't miss a single opportunity to let them know where the fundings for our project came from. In the end they were the ones who started to take pictures of my Steemit-branded t-shirts, aiming to provide me with the corresponding promotion space in their own social media channels.

It's been a journey based on trust right from the start.

If people like you, they will listen to you. If they trust you, they'll do business with you. - Zig Ziglar

The fact that we share the very same idea of charitable, social commitment was the beginning of a wonderful cooperation.

Now listen: The President of the Red Cross Lanzarote told me that they'd showcase the Steemit initiative @dreamsoftheocean. From now on they will feature the Steem backed charity events in their future meetings with representatives from other associations of the Red Cross all over the world!

The Red Cross Lanzarote featuring my Steemfest presentation on their Facebook page

Transcription of the Facebook feature:

Our charity surf activities (where the blogger @surfermarly donated surf lessons to 48 kids from families that were selected by the Red Cross Lanzarote) broaden their horizon: on beginnings of November Marlene presented the project 'Dreams of the Ocean' (Sueños del Mar) at the conference Steemfest which took place in Lisbon, Portugal, and where she animated other people to do similar projects in their countries... About 300 bloggers, developers and investors that came from 38 different countries participated in the event. 1.900 users saw the presentation online since then. The presentation had a significant impact: since then the related account has received more donations to finance other social projects in the future.

On the pictures we can see @surfermarly during her presentation, some charts shown on the screen as well as Marlene posing with Ned Scott @ned (Co-Founder and CEO Steemit, Inc.). Thank you very much Marlene, our appreciation isn't much compared to the special moments you gave to these kids... 🏄‍♂️🏄‍♀️🏊‍♂️ 🚑 😘

The Steem backed initiative @dreamsoftheocean will be considered as a showcase on an international level.

That is surely much more I could have ever asked for!

Now the idea will be spread around the world and we'll be able to create a movement.

Under the umbrella of 'Dreams of the Ocean', we're planning to excecute multiple social events involving kids in need.

Talking about incredible people... I want to gratefully thank the people who have donated their valuable tokens to our wallet during the past days!

Thank you @jaybird, @pennsif, @voronoi, @juanmiguelsalas and @felander who even published another article about the initiative in his blog. You guys rock!!!

Also I'd like to thank everybody who has contributed to the cause by upvoting, commenting and sharing our content! Please don't stop doing it :-)

We've got already some great plans regarding our next activities. That's something we'll talk about in the next blog post. Stay tuned!

hey @surfermarley that is great news, not only for @dreamsoftheocean but for those kids that will benefit from this.
That was the important part and an added bonus is that pretty soon the Steemit community in Lanzarote will be booming and so with the help of the Red Cross this will push our platform another step in the right direction.

maybe there would be a way to set up a charity SMT where people could donate votes in general to a charity pot and this could then be subdevided to those in need at that very moment. Truely interesting times

I am sorry that the revenue of the post wasnt that high but I guess every bit helps and you are still getting my 100% votes as promised...

Please don't worry about the payout of your post, every Cent is highly appreciated! For someone who doesn't have anything, this is a lot.

I'm pretty convinced that we will have charity tokens in the near future :-)
Have a great day!

wow... that's wonderful.

Well done Marly...we in Steemit Philippines have been waiting for our own Red Cross to open an account and receive their further donations raised in the platform for the displaced Marawi residents since August.
They cant get their act together.

Oh, so they had the idea to open a Steemit account? That would be great!

They agreed to open one as we only gave them a check last august. Further visit to their main office said they will.
We are trying to reach them as there are a couple of hundred sbd's donated for Marawi.
But no word.
Am suggesting now to use the money to directly help the evacuees before Christmas.I was told that all means to reach them must be made and if further no communication to us will occur,
perhaps Steemit Philippines will make a decision on how wisely will it be used to help the Marawi people. War is over and rehabilitation is being done.

Wow!

That's flipping amazing! In no time at all you have the Red Cross on side, and they are using @dreamsoftheocean as part of their perpetual campaign!

That's just totally awesome, well done you!

Thank you, Asher!
You're right: their commitment is really incredible, I couldn't ask for more.
We're already planning the next activities :-)

Aww so inspiring! Love that you are bringing joy to others! :)

Thank you, Karen!!!
It's so fulfilling :-)

Great coverage for what Steemit do, it’s a wonderful leverage point for promoting and fund raising charity projects. Congratulations again for your wonderful initiative and your personal dedication. 👏

Thank you so much, Stephen!
I still can't believe how involved they're now and how much they contribute. That's amazing :-)

Brilliant @surfermarly - just be careful with such organisations that also know how to make the most for them out of partnerships!

Thank you, Uwe!
I know that the Red Cross has a certain reputation. I even talked with my local partners about that. Since we started I haven't had the sensation not even for a second that they were doing something wrong or dubious. Also they're covering all our events with volunteers that work 'for free', and not only one Cent of the donations is used for their administration or ressources. I'm really impressed by their dedication!

Excellent, well done! Fingers crossed it will continue that way

a good post, my dream to visit Thailand. Where do you plan to go next?

'Dreams of the Ocean' is like a pilot study everybody is able to do ('copy') at their place. Our intention is to provide people that want to do a similar charity project at their spot with the relevant knowledge.

So we actually don't move :-) We spread the idea on an conceptional level, but it has to be operated by volunteers on site.

If you're interested in doing a 'Dreams of the Ocean' in Thailand, let us know!

That is amazing, and well done for everything you are doing.

Thank you very much @opheliafu! Hearing it from you means a lot :-)
