RE: Speech
I agree with your approach
although I stopped using fb after a month or two when the pandemic started and despite the fact that it had already turned into a quite toxic platform I could not tolerate the fact of censorship and that I was giving my data to the enemy in order to sell it to dark organizations in order to always be one step ahead so they can manipulate the masses
As long as people don't develop their own critical thinking they will always be manipulated by following the trends
I still use it, although I tried to delete most of my pictures and all the personal data, even most of my posts which would give an insight into my personality. And even if it fights against it, this network is actually still a great informant for me because it gives me real information about what's going on around the world, having friends here and there in different parts of the world. Things that cannot be learned from the media, but you still need to know about them in order to search for them purposefully. That's why I still use it.
As far as I have seen so far, most people are deprived of the ability to do so. That is why, in principle, I am not optimistic about what awaits us in the future.
I know exactly what you mean
Facebook is so mainstream in Europe that many companies have their customer support on FB and can serve you easier and faster.
For these reasons and to keep in touch with my friends I kept messenger,
Now regarding news... at first I had my insecurities too but I understood that FB is not some independent news authority and that mostly news is just republished
so I made a bookmarked list in my browser of sites that had blogs on FB and visit them directly
but as long as you feel FB serves you and you are not the one serving it... it's all good
it just didn't work for me... in the end I felt that using this platform had more negative effects than positive effects
I wish I could disagree on that, but i just can't
