Orchi Palar aka Ngu Wei Sin and his frankensteined Rolex 6611b with fake "Hans Wilsdorf" case back, serial 311756
Instagram troll Orchi Palar (real name: Ngu Wei Sin) likes to go around criticizing other people's watches but what about his own pieces? One would assume a "watch critic of his caliber" would almost certainly own the most immaculate watches on planet Earth, right? Well, far from it actually! Most if not all of his watches are made-up, frankensteined or even outright fake. It seems he tries to destroy other people's watches in order to feel better about his own collection of pieced together junk.
Today we'll look at his "precious", a Rolex Day-Date Ref 6611B from 1957 with Hans Wilsdorf (Rolex founder) dedication on the case back. The serial number of this watch is probably 311756. This piece is truly a joke and here's why.
- First of all, the so-called "claw" dial is from a later Ref. 1803 from 1960/61. While this detail makes the watch already a pieced together "franken" watch, it's a relatively minor thing compared to what you're about to see.
- Look at the awkward B between the lugs. The shape of the letter B is wrong. The B was added later to make the watch appear more legit in comparison to the other existing watches.
- Next, pictures of a 6611 with serial 311706, only 50 numbers apart. Note there's no B between the lugs!
Orchi Palar never published a picture of the serial number between the lugs, not even an obscured one. Why not?
Compared to other 6611B with similar serials, the B on Orchi Palar's watch is off. That B is 100% home-made, never engraved by Rolex!
- What about the case back with Hans Wilsdorf dedication "1932 - 1957, H. Wilsdorf, A ses collaborateurs"? Well, see for yourself. The real case back which was published in several books is executed perfectly. Orchi Palar's case back looks like it was engraved at home.
In late October 2016, Orchi Palar went on the public record saying he had discovered this watch some 8 years ago:
Err...since O discovered this Day Date some 8 years ago..
it has never been left out of O's sight...not even for a minute..
Best regards
Orchi.
2016 – 8 = 2008, right?
However, on November 10, 2011, Orchi stated on The Rolex Forums (TRF) the watch had just been offered for consideration.
Err Buddy Jedly...long time no chat...n wishing you are well...
The watch is being offered to Orchi for consideration...
It would be delivered for further evaluation soon...
n if Orchi likes it very much...Orchi gets to keep it...
IF not...it goes back to its present owner...

Orchi's story is off by three years. Does anyone really believe that someone who found such an important watch would forget when he found it? We don't think so.
We believe Orchi bought the 6611 in 2008 but found – or made – the Hans Wilsdorf case back only in 2011, after learning about the published watch shown earlier. He then added the fake B between the lugs and probably had the serials reengraved to match the last three digits seen on the case back (756).
Orchi Palar's watch has zero provenance. Expert Jed McCormack pointed this out very eloquently:
...a piece like this is not about the physical in front of you but about the provenance that supports it and the back story that can be substantiated ... And without those it could have engraved last week, last decade or 50 years ago ...and will be treated as glass half Empty without supporting info ..
Do you own it orchi ? If so do you have more strory to tell regarding it ?
As I mentioned earlier, without provenance ... Which can take many forms ... It has to be treated with suspicion ... And it impossIble to make big leaps of what it may signify without first being able to substantiate it's autheticity ( engraving that is )
The engraving does not look in house to me .. Which surely it would be if it came from wilsdorf ... The abscence of the engravers marker hole , the 3 digits in the back in 57 ?
With all of the above said, we strongly recommend to avoid this watch should it ever become available. The watch has too many question marks and absolutely no provenance.
@exorchist will soon be back scrutinizing more of Orchi Palar's frankenstein watches from hell.
