Traditional Tribal Tattoo Buscalan Pt2
The first noticible risk is the walk in..
the view can be mesmerising....
but there is probably a reason they bury their dead under the concrete foot paths all throughout the village
a lot of colour spills of their hand washed clothes drying when the sun comemud slides and slips sound like horses galloping at first, then like a thunder that shakes and wakes the hill of natives, two way radios bounce in native tougne back & fourth across the valley checking on friends & family comming back along the track, loaded with village supplies this foto was the morning after the thunder was at nightso there is risks every where even the appliction of charcoal ink under the skin
Buscalan tribe has it's own vibe the plastic progress machine is moving in fast and there is plenty of issues to deal with, waste being the obvious then that's directly related to the numbers in & of foot traffic in and out on weekends, puts a lot of wear on the path and the mud slide was directly related to govt construction of car park & roadway to bring the world closer to this fragile village community that has become part of the global tattoo phenomenaGranmas sit around covered in old charcoal tribal tatts carring symbols as old as the rice terraces, most of the young women in the tribe have tattoos or inking others, all taught in a tattoo school or at home, this is the seed of grandmatriarch OpWhangOd, some do 5 to 8 tattoos on the weekend for day tourists. This a legacy in the balance.
There is a real integrity with these people down to the tribal wedding that happened the week I was there, everyone gets involved in passing out the food making sure everyone in the tribe and all guest have eat, they even chase you around making sure you had some Carabu broth soup which was off the taste buds full of energy, nothing gets wasted if they slaughter a Carabu it's valued part of life here for these people as with pigs and chickens dogs and cats.Wax insects bones and trix, I moved homestay yeh the bones drew me in good medicine good people if ever you head this way, go ask for Charlie Road to Zion Bones and even.......
Corn/Maiz it felt like home
So the risk of charcoal infection or hep a to z is all just part of stepping back along the mudslip path to realize life can be a risk to completion.
