RE: Happy Whiskey Wednesday my steemian friends! This week features my brother performing Three Dog Night, Enjoy!
Original content, great talent and a very pleasant performance... possibly more users taking notice of this and doing something similar? All for the bargain of 20 bucks. Hand me two of those!
Thanks! I'm trying to get my brother on the platform, so these comments are a huge help! He has an album of original work, but plays a huge variety of covers as well. Plus he's just a great freaking guy :) I would love whiskey wednesday to catch on!
Sounds great!
Just be aware that some users, myself included may use the downvote ("flag", which even since the most recent change to it is still mislabeled and made much too powerful in some cases, in my opinion) to stop content from becoming overvalued when reaching this high an ammount for a single concert. Just so he isn't turned a way if he hits one of those little speedbumps.
The Busy.org team have also expressed that they are looking to truly separate the flag and the downvote from one another in their upcoming user interface.
More information about how I in particular use votes and downvotes can be found in my profile description.
Hm. Yes, I'm well aware of the downvote. @sigmajin wrote the 'book' on the proper way to use it, he's a steemit friend of mine. And I'm also friendly with beanz. Though most veer away from using it against new users as that is antithetical to the greater purpose of drawing more people to the platform :)
Thanks for your comments :)
Nesting limit. Another thing we need to fix.
Absolutely.
LOL, yeah, nesting is irritating :)
I agree that, yes discovering a "flag" on your post could be an issue. But not using the downvotes at all or looking to inform everyone through word of mouth about what is the proper use I think will effectively just lead to "cult" behaviour that likewise will repell the average user of say Facebook, Reddit or the Google/Youtube comment section.
I don't think there's any happy inbetween with flags vs downvotes. We can't really combine them effectively the way it's done today, so either the flag icon and effects need to go entirely or we need to separate the two.
I'm hopeful that Busy.org will deliver a better solution on this front.
I've discussed the issue both with beanz and sigma over the last couple months. I was completely opposed to Steemit.com users exercising the actual flag icon for other things than what the guidelines described, but since the reform of the guidelines I've also had to reform my treatment of the downvote (flag icon).
I'm hopeful that Busy.org will find a solution and that Steemit.com will follow suit.
Yeah, the flag button is rather ugly, a simple downvote would go a long way to solving the negative connotations associated with this issue. I feel the same way as you, as far as reforming my ideas about it, however I still would never use it against someone new. We have to be responsible when we have high enough reputations to do damage to others.
