Steemit Open Mic Week 88 - Wicked Game/Woman in You (Cover mashup in 432Hz)
So this one-man festival is back again after last week's surprising win with a request from the MSP Waves PALnet crew of song that has become an iconic esotericism over there called WICKED GAME by Chris Isaac, but with a twist because it's a
Wicked Game (Chris Isaac)/Woman in You (Ben Harper) Cover mashup for Steemit Open Mic Week 88.
I literally have hundreds of original songs I could perform and most of you know that I usually like to have a particular cause or issue to address, but I hope it's ok for me to do the odd cover here and there...
As with all my live one-man-band performances,
nothing is looped
and
nothing is prerecorded
- My feet are playing home-made electronic foot drums (Kick, snare, open hi-hat, crash cymbal).
- My hands are playing acoustic 6 string guitar with a second set of pickups for electric guitar pad fx.
- My mouth is singing.
What's this One-man Voodoo?!
Now, I don't normally spend any time describing the complexities involved in doing all those things at once, but you see, you might just get carried away with the song, or some vocal line, or a guitar solo, or an unfamiliar chord and not realise that all the other instruments are still being played simultaneously.
In fact, that's what I'm hoping happens.
That you just drift along with the journey of the performance forgetting about the technicality involved.
But this time I want you to pay closer attention.
Breaking it down
Focus in, especially, with moments where there's singing falsetto with intense emotions, whilst guitar soloing in a different rhythm and melody, whilst playing syncopated drum beats.
Perhaps some jugemental musicians out there might think these things on their own, individually, might not be all that impressive (you know, "Oh I reckon such and such plays guitar better than him, or such and such is a better drummer, or his voice isn't as good as _ _ _" and they maybe be right about that independently), but together these elements are doing something quite important in the music itself.
The instruments are talking to each other and filling in completely different, yet complementary roles within the sonic and rhythmic structure of the piece.
I'm highlighting this not to impress you, but rather to impress upon you the importance of self-discipline when it comes to practicing your passion.
PASSION - Dreaming vs Being
It's one thing to figure out what your passion is or your soul-purpose on this planet is, but the difference between dreaming that dream and living that dream is as far apart as heaven and hell.
Action.
Self-discipline.
Consistent Focussed Practice.
Rinse and Repeat.
Always be on the path of mastery (as a student of life).
Always be improving millimeter by millimeter.
Anyway, I really hope you all enjoy this... AND WATCH OUT FOR THE ENDING!!!!
Blissful Blessings and smiles,
In Joy
Nathan

All I can say is that I try, but don't always succeed at being that Earth warrior of light...

I listened to it twice. Your voice from the start mmmm you feel it for sure. I just love that song and then how its mashed up. Beautiful. Ok, I'm going to listen to it again!
Wow! Thank you! I'm so stoked that you dig this vibe! Oh, you like the softer voice in the beginning?
That's secretly how I sing when I'm alone at home. It's my favourite. Whereas in public the wild, warrior lion is unleashed!

That was awesome dude, if this doesn't win this week I'm flagging @meno like a french girl. Excellent cover, I don't often resteem but this gets an exception.
That last line hahaha.
Haha!
Glad you stuck around for that last line....
haha
Also, I'm stoked you dug the cover and chuffed you resteemed it @soundwavesphoton!
I guess it's one to add to the MSP Waves backfill too... I mean...
PS. If you do flag Meno like a French girl, please video it! Haha!
Hey I'm that french girl you know. :p Just so you know, this french girl is powerful :D LOL
You are most definitely a warrior woman @foxyspirit... And French? Or French Canadian?
Une française Canadienne et en ce moment franco-Ontarienne :) A joyful french Canadian ^_^

bruh! so epic!
That Chris Isaak song is one of my all-time favourites - but the way you served the Ben Harper style put 'the woman in you' over the top!! incredible. Great choice of songs to complement each other, and virtuoso playing. Super sick. Can't wait to come jam.
Let's definitely get our jam happen pronto! Only in Melbourne until the 2nd of July before relocating to Byron!
Perhaps we write a tune together!

Super rad Nathan, love the performance and also the line:
Don't know why but that stood out to me this morning. It's a great reminder to take it slow but to keep moving forward <3
Naaaaw! Thanks so much, lovely @amymya!
Yes, you got it!
The main message I was trying to convey is that becoming good at something is a slow, consistent, persistent, self-disciplined (almost imperceptible) practice of growth.
In fact, I'm going to actually write edit and that in there because I don't want others to miss it and you inadvertently helped me highlight it.
Hugs, kisses and many other blisses to you!
