Head First Java was the first java related book that I read, almost 9 years ago. This is a great book and you should read it. The best part of Head First Java is the simplicity of the book and how easily it relates java programming concepts to real life.

4.PYTHON:
Python Programming for the Absolute Beginner, 3rd Edition
The best developer I personally know had recommended this book to me - Back then I was a complete beginner with a short attention span, so this fun, challenging book is perfect for what I needed! Each lesson consists of a game to be built and then tested! I could not be happier with this book and completed it end to end. It is highly recommended for beginners and has a unique approach that sets it a league apart from other books.

- Learning Python, 5th Edition
This book is based on author Mark Lutz’s popular training course. It has very useful examples with detail explanations. I used this book along with the book I mentioned above to learn Python. It also doubles as reference book as well as learning material. It's well organised for learning, has quizzes and exercises, and details in depth every aspect of the language (for both versions: 2.X and 3.X).

This one is very popular among my friends. Even those who hated Python started loving it because of this particular book. It starts with the basics and ramps it up nicely. And did I mention the games in this book are super great? The approach of having students type in the programs is a great idea! Even though I haven’t gone through the entire book, I can safely say that the code explanations are thorough, systematic and clear. I definitely recommend this book.

6.JAVASCRIPT:
The Books
“JavaScript for Kids: A Playful Introduction to Programming” by Nick Morgan
True to the title, this book is a whimsical exploration of very basic programming concepts, but don’t let that fool you. Books for kids aren’t just for kids. If you have never touched code before, this is a good place to start, even if you’re all grown up. Diving in the deep end before you learn how to swim can be a frustrating experience. It’s better to start your practice with some easy wins.
pdf link:click here - “Eloquent JavaScript: A Modern Introduction to Programming” by Marijn Haverbeke
This book is a work of art. It walks you through the essential concepts with a clear roadmap using clear language. It’s masterfully composed and edited, and unlike most programming books, it’s full of exercises for you to practice. If I were teaching the basics of programming in high school or college, I would use this as a text book.

It may seem absurd now, but when this book was written, JavaScript was still a young language which started life as a tiny scripting language in browsers. At the time, browsers were just beginning to be explored by serious application developers.
Prior to 2004, it was very rare to see real applications running in a browser. The browser was barely interactive. It required page reloads to transmit any data to the server, it didn’t have any storage capacity of its own worth talking about. JavaScript was primarily used to create trivial user interface effects like mouse hover states.

The Joy of PHP Programming
This book is not a complete solution for learning PHP, however. It takes you from being a beginner to someone who knows the sheer pride that only developing dynamic sites can provide.

No, this book will not turn you into a ninja. What this book really does is give you a solid ground on both PHP and MySQL in an easy and readable manner.
PHP & MySQL Novice to Ninja
The content is as great as you would expect. Analysis of MySQL is somewhat more far-reaching than that of PHP. You do get good coverage of some of the more useful and important elements of PHP such as regular expression/session management and there is an excellent chapter on structured programming.
