Privacy, A thing of the past and the upsurge to remain anonymous

Warning innuendos and sarcastic chit-chats abode>>>>>

Checking my Facebook page recently, I could not but notice how suddenly all the adverts being showed there were crypto-related or stock market- related. Switching to google, I noticed that my average search brought a ton of crypto related content into view, even when what I was searching for wasn't digital money.

I had long since known that my activities online were being tracked, as stated by various conspiracy blogs and articles, but little did I know just by how much. I hit a realization this evening(as it is in Nigeria here), a eutrophic revelation of one funny, but true and dangerous fact;

I am not safe online.

Pry-vacy

I call this pry-vacy, a play on the word pry which means what the image says it means. Big brands often take us for granted and there is little we can do about that. Slowly and surely, we have been absorbed into the world that views it ok to be pried upon. The world where companies like google and facebook, youtube and vevo can have our personal information, even with promises not to release, and still give advertisers the necessary data to track my needs and attention down to a pin point.

Biggest offenders

The bigger they are, the more likely they engage in such acts of data selling, so to speak.

Google and facebook are the biggest earners in terms of adverts per year, with a majority of their total company earnings coming from the advertisements.

Why should we care?

Despite the continuous efforts made by companies to secure their software and computers, hackers keep evolving their game, their method of propagation through the systems of these companies. Through back door access and other routes, hackers can and would be able to gain access to information some may not be willing to share and use it as a ransom.

Anonyimity to the rescue, the story of t(h)or

Screenshot (161).png

With the issues of pry-vacy being rampant, it isn't surprising that a lot of people are turning towards the dark side to seek help in protecting their data, many are going annonimous in order to starve off the ever-hungry. A lot of options are becoming available to become anonymous on the net, perhaps like the God of thunder, the tor browser possesses a mighty power to obstruct the social injustice with which the cooperations have decided to bestow on us.

What does the future hold?

With great power comes great responsibility(so, i watched spiderman in 2002), companies aren't going to leave you alone or stop leaking your data to the FBI, CIA, DSS, or any advertisers should they ask for it. As long as you arnt busy doing anything illegal though, you have nothing to worry about. Either that or go the anonymous route.

Thanks.

You can also use DuckDuckGo instead of Google. They don't track user data for commercial purposes like Google.

nice one here mate, this is truly amazing, the internet is probably the worst place someone can seek refuge on. It reeks of hacks and thieve just waiting to steal your data and use for indecent deeds. Like you rightfully said, stay clean or stay out, no other way.
