210/365, Very hot day by the river, วันที่ร้อนจัดริมแม่น้ำ

211/365, Quiet sunset by Mae Nam Khong, พระอาทิตย์ตกที่ริมโขง

How things have been changing so fast! The water level in the river has dropped by about four meters thus exposing the pebbly sand dune on the river bed. The air is very dry, the colour of the soil has turned brown. The rain three days ago has revived those big trees whose roots go deeper than twenty meters in the earth. There’s a lot of underground water here. I have to save up for my sunken well project this year.

The view from my window allows me to see the road by the bank of the river. There’s this solitary man who comes jogging every morning for over a year now. He seems to have lost quite a bit of weight. Many cyclists will be out in the evening. This is a good place for cyclist and camping as the area is quite secluded and quieter than other over crowded areas.

The sunsets in summer months are not as dramatic as those during the rainy season when the tide and waves in the river could be very violent. The exposed river bank is a boon for many local dogs who could be seen running and playing by the river every evening. Some teenagers also come here to take their selfies and walk along picking up some pebbles. This is a time for evening reflection by the river. It’s when I have more time to listen to my inner voices.

The cats jumped at the mackerels and had a feast after I arrived from the market. Life is simple and much slower by the river for which I am very grateful. When the water becomes very slow and less in volume, the locals say the water is sad.

รูปสองภาพนี้สะท้อนชีวิตวันสุดสัปดาห์ที่ริมแม่น้ำ อากาศร้อนมาก สูงถึง27 องศาเซลเซียส ตอนนี้ดินเปลี่ยนเป็นสีนํ้าตาลแล้ว ฝนตกหนักเมื่อสามวันก่อนทำให้ต้นประดู่เริ่มแตกใบใหม่สีเขียวอ่อนๆ วิวจากหน้าต่างมองได้ไกลถึงถนนริมโขง ทำให้เห็นคนมาวิ่งออกกำลังกายตอนเช้า และคนมาปั่นจักรยานเล่นตอนเย็น ชีวิตที่นี่เรียบง่ายและค่อนข้างช้าลงมาก

ภาพพระอาทิตย์ตกในหน้าร้อนสวยน้อยกว่า ในหน้าฝนเพราะนํ้าจะไหลแรงและเร็ว เต็มไปด้วยคลื่นพลังที่รุนแรงและฉับพลัน แสงจะสะท้อนสวยงามมาก เวลานี้นํ้าลดจนเห็นหาดโผล่ ตอนเย็นหมาจะชอบลงไปวิ่งเล่นกันหลายตัว เด็กๆก็ลงไปเดินเล่นและเก็บก้อนกรวดกัน เวลาน้ำนิ่งและลดลงแบบนี้ ชาวบ้านจะเรียกว่า น้ำเศร้าซึ่งค่อนข้างจะถูกต้อง. แม่น้ำเศร้าเพราะคนทำให้ธรรมชาติไม่สามารถดำเนินไปได้ คนไปสร้างเขื่อนปิดทางน้ำ ทำให้วงจรธรรมชาติขาดหายไป
