world's first didgeridoo beatboxer
MY FIRST STEEMIT POST! YAY!
One-man band: Burning The Candle - Nathan Kaye plays slide guitar, foot drums & beatbox didgeridoo simultaneously as a one-man band.
(TO SKIP MY CHATTER INTRO AND GO STRAIGHT TO THE DIDGERIDOO OPENING OF THE SONG GO TO 3.11
I won't be offended)
The single and EP, which was aired on Australia's largest youth radio network, Triple J, can be purchased from iTunes here: https://itunes.apple.com/au/album/bur...
He is renowned as the world's first didgeridoo beatboxer!
This recording contains no loops, nothing pre-recorded and no overdubs.
Every instrument, including Lapsteel Slide Guitar, foot-drums (played on home-made trigger pads), Slide-Didge (trombone-like didjeridu), vocals, and beatbox was performed simultaneously.
This is NATHAN KAYE performing a powerful environmental song with adroit musicianship and pure energy in one-man-band mode on the deck of his cabin in the sub-tropical rainforest in the hinterland behind Byron Bay, Australia...
If you love music with eco-conscious lyrics by artists such as Nahko Bear, Ash Grunwald, Jason Mraz, Michael Franti, Ben Harper, Soja, Jack Johnson, John Butler, etc. then you'll love Nathan's music.
In fact, Nathan has jammed with most of those artists.
Filmed and edited by the talented Arterium ( https://www.youtube.com/user/arterium ) & Nathan Kaye.
Recorded and mixed by Dreamseeds Productions.

Have you ever felt frustrated by how the system we live in seems to put our planet, our environment last on the priority list? It's as if the people who run transnational corporations and politicians who permit these plutocrats to continue practices of ecocide, don't care.
But what they don't realise is that we, the people who are awake, have the true power. We are the ones who allow this to continue by being complacent and by not making personal changes within our own lives. we support them with every purchase we make & with every vote we partake in.
Yet, each one of us can make changes.
We can do this step by step, everyday.
These incremental changes make a massive difference, but only when we continue to make these changes and stick with the changes we make.
If you found any of this uplifting or useful, don't leave this minnow hanging!
Please follow, upvote and resteem.
I'll be super grateful!
Blessings and good vibes,
Nathan Kaye

Fantastic! I shall do that for sure for a bit of fun! Thanks for the heads up! And I am now following you too. :)
That's an awesome performance and love the song. Please join us at Open Mic so the music community gets to meet you on Steemit. I'll be posting the new week today.
Thanks so much @luzcypher !
I'm looking forward to shooting a video song entry for openmic sometime over the next couple of days. I really want to meet more of the community and other artists here on Steemit.
So this week is week 71, right?
Fucken awesome man!
Love it!
I've never seen a didge like that before.
It looks like a didge had sex with a trombone and you got the baby :)
Thanks, buds!
Haha! That's often how I describe it, as a trombone-like didgeridoo! You said it better though! Certainly grabs people's attention whenever I play it live.
Thanks so much for resteeming it! Deeply appreciated!
:)
No wuccas mate
Talent like yours deserves appreciation
Cheers mate! You're awesome!
Well this is just amazing, absolutely loved every second!
Plus I have never seen a slide didge before, that shit is fricken awesome.
Oh sweeeeeeeeet! Glad you checked this one out! And super stoked you loved it! Yay!
Slide-Didge is so deadly! I've been touring around Australia and the world with that huge mofo for about 17 years! Just the look of it always captures people's attention, but then when they hear it through a big sound system live and it literally shakes their bits, they often lose their minds! Good vibrations! Hehe
Thank you for this great music! We were listening it together with my son who is 4,5 and I have never seen him enjoying some music that much. He was asking me about that thing didgeridoo and to my personal shame, I haven't seen anything like this before so I told him it was stick for songs. Shared it on facebook, youtube and some other social media. PEOPLE MUST LISTEN TO IT, because it's awesome!
Wow! That's so wonderful to hear @johnstone ! I've always loved how young kids just immediately 'connect' to certain types of music. I've observed over the years that didgeridoo really gets kids (and adults) dancing!
Thanks so much for sharing this music on your other social media too! I really appreciate that!
I'm posting more up very soon so make sure to follow me and you'll be able to show your son more Didgeridoo sounds.
Great to connect with you!
Cheers,
Nathan
PS. Didgeridoo is an ancient traditional instrument of the Australian Aboriginal people, although the name 'didgeridoo' isn't a traditional name for it.
It is known as many names, depending on the language of the tribe. The most commonly known traditional name for it is 'Yidaki' from the Yolngu people in North East Arnhemland, Northern Territory.
This particular Didge is called a 'Slide-Didge' which is a modern adaptation of the traditional instrument. And the way I play (with beatbox) is my own modern adaptation of how to play it.
Gotta love broken strings, at least it waited to till the end. Welcome to steem, I hope you do well here.
I know right @gyro ! Broken strings! It's especially dangerous with a lapsteel slide guitar because the tension is so high that it can wack all the other strings out of tune, which usually requires a sudden shift in playing to compensate.
Anyway, thanks so much for listening! I really appreciate that!
And I hit follow because I see that you're a fellow musician, artist and spiritual healer (I do didgeridoo sound bath healings).
:)
Thanks yeah I've got to work on getting some music on here, you've inspired me a lot, I like your style, I've always loved playing in bands but they seem to drop away so being your own drummer is great advantage. What sort of gear are you using for the foot drums?
Super stoked I found you! Love the soul and message that you bring though your music. Glad to see you on steemit, welcome. There's a lot of potential for you here and I wish you all the best on your steemit adventure.
I've been playing the didge and beat boxing for years, just not as epicly as you do it. Wow, really impressed .
Thanks @mountainjewel ! I so appreciate that, mate! And honoured you listened to the message being brought forth! Yes!
Great to meet a fellow didge-boxer!
I started playing didge in 1991 (my step-father was Aboriginal) and began didge-boxing (didgeridoo beatboxing) in the mid 90's and as a result I was lucky enough to be invited to play at places like the UK beatbox championships, Glastonbury festival, Edinburgh Fringe Fest and many other amazing stages that always makes my knees bend in gratitude...
Super awesome to connect here! Thanks so much for the nice welcome to Stemmit! I see that you're into permaculture! Woohoo! I was lucky enough to have had Bill Mollison show me around his epic permaculture zone in Uki! What an amazing legacy he left us with.
Just followed you!
:D
Mostly just glad to find a kindred spirit!
Wow seems like you've been on quite a journey, thanks for sharing a bit of your path. Excited to dive deeper.
WOW, what an honor to tour the creation birthed by the grandfather of PC. I'd love to have that exposure. I haven't visited all that many epic establishe zones, but I guess it sparks the individual creation of our property.
Here's to more inspiration! Cheers.
You said it best, bro! Kindred spirit! I'm honoured to meet you. :)

Sweet! Thanks so much! Yeah, I'm a newbie and I'm trying to get used to the format and how things work (and what things don't work the way I'm accustomed), but this was my first ever Steemit post, so I hope I did ok with it... :)
