About "Breaking"

Does anyone reading this know much about breaking? I admittedly don't, but while I'd rather compliment than criticize Olympians, I don't find this overwhelming, based on the little bit of breaking I've seen before. Some other people are commenting similarly.

Are we wrong, probably just very ignorant about the whole thing? Or is there possibly a gap, a disconnect, between organized competitive breaking and what's happening in what perhaps we could call outlaw breaking (following the styling in the country music scene, rather than making implications about actual criminal behavior)?
