painting eye digitally

This is a post describing how i paint eyes when i paint portraits. Eyes are basically the most important part and also kind of easy and hard at the same time.
You can keep the entire portrait very simple but if you paint a little details to the eye the portrait looks good.

Down below i explained how i paint the eyes step by step.

Of course you have to start with a sketch. You can try to just go with the paint flow but its better to start with a sketch.

then take a base color for the skin around the main part of the eyes. I just filled the entire area with the color then erased that part.

I used a few different layers. One for the skin, one for the sclera,one for the irish and the pupill and another for the eyebrows and eye lashes.
Placing the layers rightly is quite easy.

At first i start to paint the sclera. its actually a ball so shading it is pretty easy.

Then i shade a little bit of the skin and move on the irish.

I forgot to take any screenshots at this point so i will just have to type through this. i use a darker color for the dark part and a little lighter color for the light part. then reduce the brush size and used linear dodge for the way highlighted area.

And that's how i paint an eye.
